Need your help to solve this and I am not sure what have I done with this last night. I did googled about this but still not solve yet. All I know something with lnk because I look up in Properties of the desktop icons that I have on desktop. And noticed with one line in Properties box. The line show " Shortcut key: None " and you will notice one of my program with something over the icon in Properties box. You will see I don't know all about Windows 7 as I am not a computer geek but trying to learn more understanding about the computer stuff. Hope you can see this picture and be able to tell me how to fix the problem with this.

Thank you,

John

Shortcut key: with a value of None is not a problem.
The problem appears to be that there is no icon associated with the program -- assuming train.exe is located in C:\MSTS.

What problem are you trying to solve?

Does the icon function, or not?

The problem is your 'shortcut arrow overlay icon' is either corrupt or missing, or the registry isn't pointing to it correctly so i doubt that link will help.

Were you trying to remove the shortcut arrows when this happened?

Have a look at:

How to Rebuild the Icon Cache in Windows:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49 ... build.html

Option One should hopefully rectify your issue.

Before you do anything though, create a System Restore point just in case.

cf. Windows 7: Shortcut Arrow - Change, Remove, or Restore:

OK I have tried all of this above and still the same. How's about system restore?? I did the system restore and the date is June 13, 2014. After the system restore and still the same with corrupted registry or something with the desktop icons. I don't know what else to fix this problem? Maybe I have to live with this ugly desktop icons.

I was just going to suggest a system restore. Go back to an earlier restore point.

Are you using CCleaner, or some other registry cleaner?

Do you have system image backups?

I have good news for you -- sboots and the third option of the link that you posted is successful and now with no arrows on the icons. Finally the desktop icons are fixed at 1:10 a.m. in the morning. Well I worked last evening at the deaf school as a student support counsellor and didn't get off till after 12:30 a.m. Once again want to say thank you to Stephen for your patience and help with me through this problem.

John
