When using W10, is there any way to open the address book in a .pst file from OL Express which was previously used. My friend is now using a WEB based email program and would like to get his address book back. He tried Mail but the did not work for him.
I have been able to open the file but in a format that really does not work at all.
I guess I could install OL and then try to upgrade it?????
He is trying to recover the birthdays for the file and print them out.
If this is the incorrect place for this please feel free to move it.

Lordy, it has been years since I used Outlook Express. But It did not use the PST system. It can import a pst but not actually use the file directly. If you are seeing a pst file it is from an install of Office.
If Outlook Express is still installed the info possibly could be exported as a CSV file. I don't know if I can be of much more help. Steve may be able to add insight.

I forgot that about OL Express. Yes OL was on the system at one time.
OL Express is removed when W10 is installed, that much I do know.

Yes, as already noted, the address book from Outlook Express would be a .wab file. A .pst file is from Outlook. If there's a .pst file from Outlook it would contain a Contacts folder and also a calendar folder. You could open the .pst file in a copy of Outlook and export the data in either or both of those folders in a .csv format.

Just had a DUH moment. What is/was email provider that is in relation to the address book? If you go to the web based version for that email the address book may well be there...

To add to the above I just checked my @hotmail.com account on-line and my address book/contacts was there.

Just to let you know that I have not forgotten you here. I have not been back to continue my trials on this problem.
My client has been getting along without these additional email addresses for some time now an probably will not need me to continue this "fools errand".
I do have a new fan to install but the old one (almost brand new) seems to have quieted down.
