When deciding what to use, have a look at the device specifications. The read/write speeds and the lifetime writes should be listed. If the device will have only limited use for backup or similar, cheaper and slower would be fine, though don't entrust critical data to a cheap flash drive that you don't have another copy of. Actually, critical data should always be stored in more than one place.
If the device will be accessed regularly and used as a workspace for your data on the PC, I suggest going for a higher grade device with faster read/write access, more robust lifetime writes and even a good warranty.
