Breathing a sigh of relief as I was able to pay my rent. All my income comes from three direct deposits and the server at my bank had a total meltdown so the deposits didn't process. After being down for a day and a half it is finally basically back up and running. Wasn't critical for me as I still had three days before rent would be late but was a bit concerning.

Really was a bit surprised that they don't have a redundant server running. Shoot, things happen and you deal with it and continue on. ;)

It is very disconcerting when the bank's systems are down!

This is true. Still I like my bank, or I should say credit union as I won't touch an actual bank since one in Florida tried to charge me to deposit my paycheck to my account with them... I've been with this credit union for over 11 years and this is the first downtime I've experienced other than scheduled and announced maintenance. They did the best they could even manually processing the ACH transfers (direct deposits). I just wasn't going to submit my rent check until I was able to log in and see the ACH transfers were processed. Same with my cable payment. While it was concerning there was nothing critical as it went down on the first and I have until the fifth for both cable and rent to be considered on time. Actually there was enough in my savings to cover everything but, of course, I could not access the on-line banking to move funds.

Right now it seems that all is back to normal but it still surprises me that they don't have a redundant backup server. :dunno:
