If you have young kids around you may find it of interest. While there are options to donate the site is actually free. The child fills in the letter fields and sends the letter. Santa replies right away on the screen. You don't even need to enter an email address. There IS a field in the form for an email but you don't have to fill it in.

LOL! You can even help Santa prove that he is real by uploading an image of your Christmas tree. The site will edit the image to where Santa is putting a present under the tree. Position and size of the Santa can be edited. Here is a sample of such an image.
