Sigh, most here know that I back up my movies to an external drive and have that drive set up almost like a Juke Box to where I wrote an Excel spread sheet with all titles. I click on a title and it plays.
My current external is 4TB and I still have over 1.5TB free even with a little over 400 movies on the thing... I collect movies. I have movies of all sorts and all ages. In fact I just acquired 'The Song Of Bernadette' put out in 1943. Hey, some people collect stamps, I collect movies.
Anyway I get daily emails from Tiger Direct and today's caught my interest. There are two Seagate drives involved, both 5TB, links follow.
One concern that I have is that both drives only come with a 1 year warranty.
This drive priced at $149.99. This drive only gets a 4.3 out of 5 on 11 reviews but a couple of the reviews are REALLY just due to the 1 year warranty. Through Tiger Direct I could extend that warranty to 3 years for $19.99.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... No=8991299This one gets a 5.0 out of a possible 5.0 on reviews but there is only one review, really means nothing. It is priced at $159.99 but includes cloud backup for the drive. Actually this drive can be gotten as an 8TB drive for $318.99 but I'm not ready to go there although there is a bit of temptation...
Double the price just does not equal double the storage.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 7&csid=_23Any thoughts? Either would be a backup drive for my movies if gotten. I know Tiger Direct, been dealing with them for a lot of years. On both of these drives they have a limit of one per customer. They only do that when it a dirt cheap deal.
