I got a bit of a surprise today...
I got my auto insurance rebate check today from GEICO. Being retired military I could use USAA but they were ~$50.00 more every six months than GEICO.
USAA is supposed to cater to military which surprised me in that they were so much higher than GEICO (~$144.00 per six months versus ~$195.00 per six months for state minimum plus uninsured motorist). Then I noticed something on the face of the rebate check that explained. GEICO actually stands for '
Government
Employee
Insurance
COmpany'. Who would have guessed?? Yes, I just do state minimum insurance. Shoot, what else would you do for an eighteen year old car that isn't mint?
The GEICO military discount actually means a LOT! Progressive wanted ~$200.00, USAA ~$195.00 and Farm Bureau ~$205.00.
