My cockatiel, Terabit, has learned something new to make my life a pain...

I feed him a seed mix with other stuff mixed in. Some of the other stuff in the seed mix he likes and others not so much so. :) He now picks out the stuff he does not like and throws it at me. He seldom hits me but comes close. He does get close enough that I find myself going 'ouch' when I step on something that has landed in front of my couch.

Some may say that he isn't really throwing at me but, rather, just getting rid of stuff. My thought in return would be why this stuff is only found on my side of the room in relation to his cage and nothing on the other side of his cage...

I'm not really complaining as I think it is kind of funny. :) And, NO, I'm not going to pick the stuff he doesn't like out of his feed. LOL! He seems to be doing well enough on that on his own.

Sory for the 'bump' on this topic. I was testing something.

I've given this a lot of thought and analysis, Jay. I think he is definitely throwing the stuff AT you.

Probably because he wants to do some on-line banking and you won't let him.

Ya, I'm wet! Wanna fight about it? LOL! My bird from hell is soaked after spending close to an hour in my kitchen sink!

This is the first time I've really tried this but he seemed to like getting soaked. I filed the sink to be about the depth of the middle of his chest. He was quite calm and seemed to like.

I decided to go a step further and drained some water and gave him a shower using the sink's spray hose. I was amazed at how much dry dander and crud came off of him under the shower and he seemed to like the shower.

All this sort of makes sense as the home land for a cockatiel is the inner coast areas of Australia which is quite humid. For his breed the lower humidity of Sheridan is quite dry. I'll have to make a point of putting him in the sink at least once a week.

He has really been digging at himself with his beak and talons like scratching an itch almost constantly lately. Since giving him a bath and shower he has not "scratched" himself at all.

What was that? Oh, he just asked if anyone wants to get wet with him?

Yes he'd enjoy the shower, he probably might have had a mite that made him itch and the shower got rid of it. He's looking good Jay. :-)
