Hello BillG,

It was a spammer. I can stop bots with the security code I wrote but I can't prevent a human from registering.

About a year ago I changed the registration from Admin approval to email confirmation adding my code to the registration process. Still, nothing is perfect but there has been almost no spam posts. It will happen now and then as there is no way to prevent a human from registering. Shoot, I think that we got as much spam when doing Admin approval and actually blocked an MS MVP from registering due their comming up as a false positive on an email check.

If the spam amount ever becomes an issue I WILL make a change to where a new user's post is not seen by anyone but staff for a specified number of posts that have been approved. I just don't want to do this as I'm trying to build these forums back up and implying to a new user that their post won't be seen for a while tends to be counter productive in that aspect. When someone has an issue they want to post a problem that is seen ASAP. This was also my issue with Admin approval on registration. If I can't post my issue and have it seen I'll go somewhere else.

I can't remember if you were one of the accounts we were able to carry over to the new forum software so don't know if you ever saw what I put together to hamper the spambots. Here is a sample.

LOL! If the spam bots ever figure out how to beat the current code I built I already have another based on input taken from a video file.

My account carried over. I never had to login that way Jay. Looks good to me.
