My friends, in their 80's, have recently gone from Win XP to Win 8. I have Win 7, so I'm not going to be much help when they have a question or problem about Win 8. Would it be a good move for me to make sure they've gotten the latest update? I believe the latest update is supposed to be a good thing for those that use a keyboard and mouse.

It does not matter whether you use a mouse and keyboard or a touch screen. You ALWAYS do updates.

The latest update to 8.1 makes it more mouse friendly. It added an X close window icon to the top of the open Metro Tiles . It also added a little better right click context menu to the tiles on the Metro Interface.

Also, are they running 8.0 or 8.1? If 8.1, you have to do this update in order to receive further future updates.
