Really? Homegroup? Out of the clear blue sky and icon appeared on my desktop called "Homegroup". I don't know what it is and I don't need it or want it. I tried to delete it but when I click on it, there is no option to delete it. When I open it, it says no other homegroup computers are available. Your help in making it go away will be very much appreaciated

Hi Allyson. Can't say what brought up the icon but a Homegroup is just another word for Network or a series of linked systems. Homegroup just makes it more automated and easy to set up.

To get rid of the icon...

1) Click Start then Settings.

2) Go to Personalize then Themes.

3) Scroll down to Related Settings and select Desktop Icon Settings.

4) Uncheck the Network option and Apply then Click OK. If it is not checked check it doing the Apply and OK then back out and repeat unchecking the option.

Hi Jay.......Thanks for your help but the mysterious icon was not there this morning. I wonder if my sister is messing with my computer. Either that or Kermit the Frog came along and ate it. I did have a very unusual event happen though. A very close lightning strike happened and it knocked out my computer and the clock in my bedroom but there was no loss of power anywhere else in the house. I thought that was kinda crazy. Anyway, the bothersome icon is gone. I don't know why things like that bother me but they do. I had the oil changed in my new car the other day and they put a sticker up in the top left of my windshield and it was freaking me out so I had to peel it off and put it on the passenger side.
