Hi, is there a successful way to boot into Safe Mode in Windows 8? I wanted to run the Malwarebytes (updated today) in safe mode to check for malware it's not finding in Windows. I've tried holding shift key plus hitting F8 but maybe I'm doing it wrong. I'm using the How-To Geek method http://www.howtogeek.com/107511/how-to- ... -easy-way/
and they mention 'mashing' the F8 key; does anyone know what they mean by mashing? Or is there a way within Windows to go to Safe Mode this one time, without changing the boot to always start up in Safe Mode after I'm done using Safe Mode? Thanks for any ideas/help!! katy

Update: I finally got it! Took a combination of 2 sites' info but at least the Malwarebytes is now scanning in Safe Mode. Just thought I'd post this before anyone spent any time suggesting options. I did not need to 'mash' the F8 key but I'm guessing mashing means something like mashing potatoes lol. Once Malwarebytes is done, I think I'll do a couple reruns of getting into Safe Mode again and write myself the 'recipe' lol. :) katy

Just as a note...

By 'mashing' the f-8 key they mean to quickly and repeatedly keep tapping the key.

Holding it down usually works as well.
