I noticed recently that in my Windows 7 programs folder in control panel there is a program with this name Reimage Repair. I ran the file name through google to see if its part of system operation and it didn't state it should not be removed so I clicked to remove this (it wasn't in programs last yr so not sure why its in Programs now).

Before it could be removed, I got a popup message that stated I needed to decide if I want to a) remove it or as an option to b) 'remove but stay protected' which if I chose that option it would 'keep the active protection'.

Has anyone else ever heard of this program and is it safe for me to remove this without interfering with the windows 7 operation?

In google it states this isn't a virus, however:

"Is Reimage Repair a virus?
No, Reimage repair is not a virus. It has been created by the technical experts to protect the system. ... This tool is one solution for Windows optimization, works as registry cleaner as well as removes the malicious threats such as spyware or malware completely from the system.

Thanks anyone for any ideas or help. katy98

Since this software messes with the system registry I would remove all traces. It probably came bundled with a freeware package you downloaded.
