Was the right click option on an ISO file to burn removed from Windows 10 Pro or is it missing from my system due to other burning software being installed? I don't believe that anyone running Windows 10 Home version would have ever seen this option.

It causes me no harm, just curious. Actually this is an old observation, not just since the recent fall 2017 upgrade.

I don't believe it matters which version of Win10 is being used, they should all support that function.

Your observation about 3rd party software is likely the cause.

cf. How to Burn Disc Image from ISO or IMG file in Windows 10
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/763 ... -10-a.html

Note: As implied in the tutorial above, 3rd party burning software isn't the only possible cause for the removal of the context menu item.

Don't really know Doddie. My neighbor has the Home version and has never had the context option. He has zero burning software installed.

<edit>
Hey, thanks for the link Doddie! It caused me to check my file association for .ISO and there was not an association. I set it to Windows Explorer and the menu option is back. :) I'll have to check the neighbors system with 10 Home to see if I can get it to show.

Already did on the neighbor's system and setting the file association worked. He now has the burn option on a right click of an .ISO file. He told me that he did not have any burning software installed but Cyberlink's 'View ISO' file was there which broke the association to Windows Explorer.

Excellent, i wish i could take credit for knowing this stuff but i can't.. a quick search pointed me in the direction, more often than not it's not knowing what the question is or what the answer is but where your most likely to find the answer that's the key... many years of "googling" has taught me to discard almost all search engine results and to focus only on the domain names... I'm not sure that makes sense so i'll let those that know roll their eyes and tell me to stop teaching their grannies how to suck eggs and those that don't know can PM Jay :rofl2:

I totally agree! In fact before I replaced it my signature with the "I never forget..." bit it used to be something like "Fixing computers is not about knowing all the answers but knowing where to find the answers.". :)

I remember that, i don't remember the exact wording either but at the time i was a trade union heath and safety rep, and their mantra was exactly the same... we're not here to teach you everything you need to know about all the laws but where to go to find further information should you need it.

I smiled when the rep in the classroom told me that because I'd been doing it for years via Yahoo/Alta Vista etc already... indeed i had already met online, and married, my wife!.. bearing in my mind that at that time online relationships were akin to some sort of alien invasion concept!!

I digress, again ;)
