Hi....long time no see. I am using Windows 11 Pro (Pray for Me) My Windows 7 is still rolling along but need 11 to do my taxes as Turbo Tax will no longer work on 7. Anyway, I use "notepad" a lot and have been trying to change the font size on notepad in Windows 11 Pro and not having any success at all.........so my question is, "How do I change the Font Size on Windows 11 Pro notepad?"

Allyson, I found this on the internet: Click on the Start button to access the Start menu, and type "Notepad" to search for and open the program. Click on "Edit" and select the "Font" option from the dropdown menu. Look for the "Text Formatting" menu. Select the font family, style, and size you want to use.

Things may be different in Windows 11 so BB's advice for looking for 'edit' then 'font' may be totally valid. However, for me in Windows 10, I just looked and the font path is 'format' then 'font'.

Hi Barry, I was able to find the notepad program and open notepad, however, when I click on Edit, it opened 27 options such as copy, paste, cut, delete etc; but none of the options deal with changing the font. Also at the top of the page there are 32 icons to click on to change various functions but none of those deal with the font as well.

Allyson, sorry it wasn't as advertised. I don't yet use Windows 11, so I can't really walk you through anything. Maybe other members currently using Windows 11 can be of more help.
But I did find these instructions, which appear to be the same as what Jay cited above, i.e., you start by tapping Format rather than Edit: Tap or click to open Notepad. Tap or click the Format menu, and then tap or click Font. Pick a font, font style, and size, and then tap or click OK

This may be almost the same as referenced link.
Open Notepad Click on Gear (upper right) Click on Fonts Pick from the drop down menus to change. That should do it.

I finally got it to work......only took about 3 hours !!!! but I managed to step right into another problem. On Windows 11 Pro, I attempted to install Microsoft Word so I put my CD into the DVD drive and it ran for about 30 minutes with the words "working on it" at the top of the page. When it stopped running, there was a notation at the top of the files that said "files ready to be written to disc" and below that there was two folders and one file that read as so; New Compressed zip folder (2) 1kb New Compressed zip folder 0kb Desktop 1kb So my question here is what do I do to write it to the disc? There is a good number of options when I right click on the folders or the file but I hesitate to do anything not knowing what will happen. One of the options that jumped out at me is "extract all". Your thoughts on what to do next.

Is this an actual Microsoft CD/DVD for Word or a copy? What version of Word? There should be nothing written to the disc and there's no reason for 2 tiny (probably empty compressed folders to be created on insertion of the disc. After inserting the disc, you should be able to open File Explorer to see the contents of the disc where you would typically see a setup file and other files and folders. You should be able to double click on that setup.exe file to proceed with installation.

You should be able to double click on that setup.exe file to proceed with installation. This was an actual Microsoft Office Home and Student CD and it did not run like a normal installation CD so after making my previous post, I put my other Microsoft Office 97 Professional CD into the DVD player and it went through the normal install functions and it was about to finish, however, it reached a point where it stopped......... saying it could go no further because it does not have my email address. Seems a bit stupid to me to squash the install because they dont know my email address. I could not get off the page that it was on without closing it. I tried to delete the entire install and start over but it wont let me do that either. This CD installed just fine on Windows 10. Looks like I am stuck in the mud so any help will be much appreciated. Stop-stop-stop..............Jaylach gave me the option long ago to use Libre Office......it was a free download and installed on Windows 11 Pro in less than 5 minutes and it works great!!!!

Yes, Libre Office is a really good package. I use it on my Linux and Apple systems.

Glad to read that you decided to use Libre Office rather than the ancient copies of Microsoft Office.
