First this is a known issue as to when after restarting after updates the taskbar is gone on some systems including my main.

Searching the issue I have not found my solution shown and solutions I have seen often did not work. At least on my main I found that I can hit alt-ctrl-del and sign out and then sign back in. After doing this once further restarts seem fine.

Just thought that I'd throw this out there in case any others have seen this.

I'm finding Win10 updates to be nothing short of a car crash... i thought i'd already stopped updates from downloading with Winaero so i could choose when to download and install them myself but it appears not, out of the blue yesterday something downloaded to my PC and while it didn't auto install i still got a message prompting me to reboot so the update was installed... this really annoyed me because i couldn't find out what had been downloaded and it gave me no option to dismiss it, let alone opt out from whatever it was... it was only after it was installed that i could see what it was... KB5037768

Apparently KB5037768 has something to do with End of Life for a version of Win10 that doesn't effect me... to say i'm not happy MS are seemingly forcing updates like this on me, it does nothing to endeer me to an OS i never wanted to migrate too in the first place.

Hey Doddie, You need two tools to really control Updates...

This will hide selected updates that you don't want. Thanks to Steve for finding a working link to this.

I use Wu10Man for finer control of updates such as setting to just notify me instead of installing.

Thanks Jay, i've installed Wu10Man as it seems the more logical option given i don't want to disable, or at this moment in time have any need to block updates, i just want to know what the updates are going to do before i choose whether or not to install them.
[Driver updates i see as a seperate enitity and i've already disabled them from being updated by Microsoft.]

That said, i likely won't know for a few weeks (until next month's round of Windows Updates) if the change will work.

Finding the setting in Wu10Man to change automatic updates had me scratching my head for a few minutes because it's not displayed as an option by default after installation which i found a bit odd, so i clicked on 'File > View Legacy' and that opened an option to where i presumably needed to be.

When i did find the setting to change how updates were presented by Windows 10 there is a "NOTE" that suggests this Group Policy Edit no longer works as of Windows 10 build 2004 - see attached screenshot.

As i said, i likely won't know if this still works or not until MS rollout another update to my PC but i'll revisit this thread with the result as soon as that happens.

Fyi, the build of Wu10Man i installed is 4.4.0.0 which is afact the latest and final build of the programme because the author has said on Github he won't be developing or supporting it any longer.
