Actually I think it makes sense. If you are going to drop an atomic bomb you don't do it in a rural area, you do it on a large city. If you crack a large corporation you will get more on that one crack than a year of hitting individuals. You always go for a target with the biggest impact...

Interesting article. I sorta suspected that. I've never had any type of attack (knock on wood), but again I keep my computers pretty-well protected. The only individual I know who has been attacked is my sister in Georgia. She was hit by ransomware about 4 years ago after clicking on a popup.....they wanted $500. She refused and purchased a new computer. The local computer guys could not salvage any data from her old computer. But at my insistence, when they set up her new computer & software, they installed MBAM and an external drive for automated backups. She has had no problems since then.
