Bb, that's a difference between V2 and V3. In V2, you could set it to scan for rootkits as a default action.

Patty, should I enable the scan for rootkits in my V2?

I'd enable if it were me. Also at Patty look for the global option under the Protection tab (scroll down) and enable the scan for rootkits there instead of under Custom Scan. Here is how I have MB3 set on my system.
Web Protection -- on
Exploits -- on
Malware Protection -- on
Ransomware -- on
Scan for rootkits -- on
Scan within archives -- on
Auto updates -- on
Notify if last update is over 24 hours -- on
Start with Windows -- on
Delay Real-Time Protection -- off
Enable self-protection -- on
Enable self-protection early start -- on
Auto quarantine -- on

Patty there is no index feature that would fix the issue you presented in your question on the post as there is no mixup between posts just two posts combined.

Actually I think that everything went as it should. I'd bet dollars to donuts that you clicked edit on BB's post by mistake instead of quote.

I recognized Patty's "ha ha" response to my "west coast" post, and I did wonder how it became part of my post. So I assume that Patty (as our Fearless Leader) and you (as our Technical Geekozoid) have editing privileges on our posts? Just asking, because to my knowledge I've never been edited before.

Yes, a site admin can edit any post. This is, of course, a necessary feature and has been used before. If I am correct, in this case, it was done by accident and not by intent. If you follow all the threads you will have noticed cases where a post has been edited but, on these forums, an edit to another user's post will always be stated. At least I've never seen a case where it was not stated. :)

Jay, that doesn't explain that when it first posted, it was under my avatar, and my post replaced his. After a browser refresh of the page is when the two posts became combined and showed under his avatar.

Heh, the exact same thing happened to me years ago at the Haven, the hitting "edit" instead of "quote". I always reduce the quote to just the needed stuff like I did here with Patty's quote. When I posted my post I watched in horror as the poor guys post was mostly wiped out. I felt so bad and there was no way to retrieve what I had killed, at least in those days. Fortunately the person (one of you?) did not mind at all. :whew:

OK, I'll grant you that I likely hit Edit instead of Quote. There was still some pretty odd behavior in there though.

No, no, Patty, I am not saying I think that is what you did. I don't know, you just gave me something to work with for my experience from the past.

I don't have an actual positive answer for you Patty. Of course I can only speculate...

I just received a notification that Defender had detected a potentially harmful item on my Win 10 PC (or words to that effect). So I went to Defender/History to see what was going on. But I couldn't review any items because I wasn't the Security Administrator.

Ed Bott said this Security Administrator function is disabled by default to reduce the attack surface on a Windows PC. Furthermore, he recommends that I not enable it.

Looks like I'm going in circles. Defender secured my PC but I can't find out from what because I don't have that privilege.

Any recommendations on what I should do at this point? My PC is running fine. Thanks in advance.....

BBarry I don't know if you're still looking for a solution. I've read about the Hidden Administrator Account. Windows sets it up on all installations. When this account is activated all programs and software are run without restrictions. Here is the link to read about it and to see if it is necessary to activate.
