Before I upgraded to Windows 10 I had ESET antivirus. I never had a virus with it. Am I able to use ESET or do I have to use Windows Defender? Thank you in advance.

I don't see any reason you shouldn't be able to use ESET, it's always been your choice what you want to use for an anti-virus program. What OS did you upgrade from ? Have you had a look in your programs to see if it was included in the upgrade ? I know a lot of my stuff got included but at present I use the inbuilt Microsoft offering alongside Malwarebytes and SpywareBlaster.
You'll get the experts come along soon and put your mind at rest so see what they have to say.

Yes, you can use any compatible antivirus/antispyware program in place of Defender. Defender will be turned off. A new feature will be available with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update that will allow you to use your chosen program for security *and* let Defender perform a periodic scan: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/prot ... 2e43191cf3 -steve
