TurboTax recently issued a notice to all Win 7 users regarding their 2019 taxes. It strongly suggested that such users should either: (1) utilize 'TurboTax Online' instead of the CD version downloaded to their computer, or (2) upgrade to Win 10 prior to computing their 2019 taxes using the CD version. Of course, they reasoning cites Microsoft's discontinued support of Win 7 as of January 14, 2020.

Either way, it does sound like 2019 taxes will definitely be the last year for Win 7 users to compute their taxes on their own computer using the TurboTax CD version.

I doubt that the CD version will stop working but it MIGHT no longer be able to download tax schedules. I've never used TurboTax but would assume that it has to download each year's tax schedules. I would hazard a guess that the drop of support for the CD version is due to security issues and the protection of the end user's personal information after Microsoft is no longer offering Windows 7 security patches to normal users.

I agree....I think the CD version will work under Win 7 this year, but they say this will be the last.

And of course, the reason stated is concern for your personal info.

I have used TurboTax for more than 15 years and really like it. But no concern from me because I use it on my Win 10 computer.

And, from your first post, it would seem that Windows 7 users will still be able to use it on-line.

I have used the online version for several years. Used to be free for all editions if I linked to it through my insurance website.
