Does anyone know how to change the voice in MS Office Outlook read aloud?

Probably under Speech Recognition in the regular Control Panel. Open the Text to Speech option in upper left and there is a drop down box to change voices.

edit- in the All Settings Control Panel, Click the Time and Language option and there is a Speech option that has a drop down to select voices.

Thanks David but no go. Oddly I don't have a Speech Recognition applet in my Control Panel and Time and Language options seem to have no affect on Outlook's Read Aloud.

There are 3 choices when you click the settings icon after you hit Read Aloud when viewing a message.

That seems to have done it Steve. I never noticed the 'controls' when having an email 'read'.

Thank You! :)

I just wanted a female voice as my sister uses a fairly small font and I sit 9 feet from my screen. LOL! Just seemed a bit odd having my sister 'talk' to me in a guy's voice.

My pleasure. I haven't used the feature, but I can see where it would be very useful for your situation. :-)

Steve, did you use Snipping Tool to capture the 'readaloud' image? And how did you add the red circle?

I did indeed use the snipping tool. Once you have the snip, there is a pen icon (also a highlighter icon) in the snipping tool's toolbar. The pen can be different colors. I clicked the pen and then used my mouse to make the circle. Then saved the image and uploaded it.

Thanks, Steve. I learn something new everyday. As many times as I have used the snipping tool, I never noticed the pen and highlighter in the toolbar. I have always just snipped, saved, and uploaded (or attached) my image.

I love the snipping tool, bbarry. :-) I keep it pinned in my task bar for easy access. The ability to highlight and markup the snip is great, although limited when using a mouse.

Steve I'm very interested in saving the snip from snipping tool, could I ask if you saved the image with a free program or do you have a different program?

Katy, you have to look at the options. Just as with most programs there is a 'File' tab. Click on 'File' and select to 'save as...'after capturing your 'snip'. This is the same as with most software; you have options to save. If you are having specific issues with the Snipping Tool PLEASE start a new thread with the issue.

Thanks Jay! Your explanation is SUPER helpful to me and I could kick myself for not checking there; too easy almost. I won't need a new thread for this, solution solved!!
Sorry about the earlier change of subject without change of thread; will remember better here forward :)! katy
