The latest Firefox, called Quantum 57.0.4, doesn't like Firefox on my machine. There is no sound! I also use Vivaldi and I get sound when it's in the sandbox. Both Firefox and Vilvaldi give sound when in the Shadow Mode. Any ideas? |

Sorry Smitty but I don't use Firefox so probably can't be of much help. Best I can offer is to revert to the previous version of Firefox and update at a later date when they may have fixed the issue. There are other members here that use Firefox and, hopefully, one will have a better insight. |

If you go on the Sandboxie thread on Wilders, Bo.Elam has posted a fix. If you haven't found it by tomorrow afternoon I'll find it and post it here |

Found it, I think. Go here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads ... 2/page-170 look for post number 4233 Peter, does this in anyway lower the protection of Sandboxie, or should I ask this question on that thread at Wilders. thanks a ton, Acadia EDIT: I just did ask that question at Wilders in that same thread. |

Hi Acadia Thanks for finding that. I found it this morning and then lost internet until just now. I haven't asked about the security implications as I needed to do it. As an aside everyone using firefox should update to 57.04 immediately. Also there is a new beta for sandboxie that everyone using it should get. Pete |

As to Sandboxie beta 5.23.3, is Sandboxie offering this to lifetime license holders? 3. And from Wilders about the workaround for the missing sound in sandboxed FF: "open about: config, and change "security.sandbox.content. level to 2 or 1 or 0. Well, my 5.22 Sandboxie doesn't have any drop down menus with those selections. Any idea where they're to be found???? |

Ok, Smitty, here's what you do. But first let me say that Bo Elam answered my post at Wilders and assured us that this "hack" in no way affects the security of Sandboxie. Actually, you are doing nothing to Sandboxie, the only change that you are making is to Firefox. Here are the steps: 1. Bring up Firefox WITHOUT it being inside of Sandboxie, in other words, bring it up normal like most folks do. 2. In the address bar where you type the website where you want to go, for example www.computerhaven.com, you type in about:config. That is literally all that you type in, about:config without any spaces. Now hit the Enter key on your keyboard. 3. In the next screen Accept the Risk to possibly void the warranty, none of us paid a cent for Firefox anyway. 4. This takes you to all the advanced settings. Geeks have a ball here, you can do all sorts of fancy, neat stuff to Firefox if you know what you're doing. This is all alphabetical so scroll down to security.sandbox.content.level. Double click on that line and change the setting to 2, that's what I did. Close Firefox. There was no need for me to use Bo Elams second step. From now on when you bring up Firefox inside of Sandboxie you should have your sound. I want to repeat one thing: Make sure you make this change with Firefox NOT being sandboxed. The protective power of Sandboxie would wipe out the change. Good luck, Acadia |
