I use an older free version of the password manager called RoboForm. The program has been very useful to me over the years, and I have hundreds of stored passwords and never had a problem.

But the program does have one little nuisance that I would like to eliminate. Several times a day, a window will randomly pop-up and ask me to input my RoboForm password. I have three choices - Can't Remember, Later, or Enter Password. I always select 'Later', since it is the easiest choice.

I would like to eliminate the occurrence of this pop-up window, but I'm not sure where or how to do this. So I would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks in advance...

I don't use RoboForm but I'll take a stab at it... I am guessing that you are referring to the prompt for the master password that protects your regular passwords.

First the RoboForm Master Password cannot be removed, but you can reduce the number of times you need to enter it. By selecting the “Do not ask for Master Password” option, the only time you'll need to enter your Master Password is if you manually log out or if you've checked the automatic logout option under the security settings.

To turn off “Always ask for Master Password” follow these steps:

1)
Click the Show Hidden icons [ ^ ] icon near the time. Click the RoboForm Taskbar icon. Then, select “Options” from the menu.

2) Select the “Security” tab from the column on the left. Under “Authentication method” select the “Don’t ask for Master Password” option.

Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the window to save your changes.

Thanks Jay. Unfortunately, I've been down that road. On my version of RoboForm, underneath the button Don't ask for Master Password is a message in red stating that "For security reasons we will ask you to enter your Master Password every 30 days".

I guess since I always select the Later choice when the nuisance window pops up, I guess the program decides to remind me several times a day. Maybe if I went ahead and entered my password then it would leave me alone for 30 days.

I was hoping that I could go into something like Task Scheduler or Task Manager and delete the call to this pop-up window. But I can't find where to do this.

Your best bet then is probably to just try entering the password and see if it leaves you alone for a month. I wouldn't think that entering once a month would be much of an issue. :dunno:

OK, the window just popped up again, so this time I entered my password. Now I'll see if it will leave me alone for 30 days.

The program didn't use to do that, so I guess it came via an update a year or so ago.

If you still have the original install media you could try installing it over itself to see if that would roll back a possible update...

I don't have the install media. It was the free version that I downloaded years ago. I will just live with the 30 days if it will let me.

Thanks for your help.

Ok, I entered my password and it does look like it's going to leave me alone for a month. I can live with that.
