Check this out:

I believe this goes on sale at Walmart shortly for $99. Thinking of picking one up, and maybe one for each of my girls. ;)

It would make a nice Nook replacement when my Nook HD fails - and I have no intention of ever buying a Nook Samsung tablet. Don't want an Android with Google all over it. But Windows 8.1 has an okay Nook app.

Looks nice, I have the Nook app on my Asus but don't use it that much. I mainly use Kindle and have the app for that on my Asus and my Lumia Smartphone, plus I have the Kindle Fire HD 7"

The only drawback to my Kindle Fire is that it doesn't have a camera I'd need the next version, which was a year later, or the HDX model.

That looks really interesting Patty. The biggest fault that I can see is that the camera resolution is really bad but for $99.00... ;) I've never gone out shooting photos with my tablet anyway.

I just may grab one myself. Shoot, I keep a jar on my fridge for loose change. I throw coins in it all year and around mid December cash it in and buy myself something I normally would not. Looking at my jar and guessing I'd say that I could get this tablet for 10-20 dollars, mayhaps for free.

Be sure to check it out in person. I got the Toshiba 7 inch tablet from the Microsoft Store for $99. While a really great machine, these old eyes don't do well with the test. it isn't crisp as it is a cheap display. For the price, though....

Yes, I would have to do that, Steve. I do insist on clear text. Actually my Surface is better that way than my Nook HD is.

Just putting this 'out there' as i have no opinion one way or another about Walmart's offering, that said, The Register definitely isn't sitting on the fence and it's not good!
In fact, it's so scathing i'm not going to quote them as i'm not entirely sure it could be classed as family friendly!

Well, he may be right, I'd have to take a look at it. The fact that he hates Walmart makes me wonder if this is an unbiased review.
