This morning the text on this forum is appearing larger than normal, and I cannot see the whole page in one go. There is a scroll bar across the bottom of most pages. On this page there is no scroll bar, but the text is still larger than normal.

Since posting this topic, the scroll bar has gone but the text is still larger than normal.

Just closed down and opened the forum again. The scroll bar is back on most pages again. What is going on?

There is an issue going on that I have not figured out yet. To be honest at this point I have not a clue. If I were seeing a difference on just this site I could decide what direction to persue. That is not the case. I'm seeing differences in text size on several sites including another help forum we both use, Andsome. On CHF I used to have to view at 125% to have it fully readable on my screen. I'm now viewing it at 100% with no issue. This equates to close to the same increase in size. So far this makes zero sense. Two different forums, two different software packages, both showing a change in sizes. I'm usually on top of this software but have to admit to being at a loss right now. I have already re-uploaded ALL forum files from my local backup so I cannot see it being a file corruption. This may take a while, please bear with us...

My next step here will probably be to replace the current data base compiled templates with a backup from a day or two ago. Not going to be doing manual data base work at this moment. I am too tired to even look at doing that right now.

Just curious... Under 'View' what text size are you set at?

Thanks for the reply. Under view it reads MEDIUM, bottom right hand corner 100%. I never need to change anything, I alway leave the settings the same.

Jay:
This happened to my view of the forum here yesterday mid-day. I had encountered errors when trying to access the forum earlier. I don't recall the exact time, but the forum view looks like I've made a preference change for a zoom setting to 125% or greater. This is the only site affected. :-)

It is the only site affected for me as well. Jay and I have been discussing it in email, and I've already had some support from the host. They fixed a different problem that occurred at the same time, but said everything is now good to go on their end.

Another oddity, and not sure if it is related or not. I shut my machine down last night (Windows 8) and while I was preparing for bed, it restarted. I thought that was odd, that perhaps I'd made a mistake and hit restart. I shut it down again. When I turned the machine on this morning, there was an error reporting message from Microsoft that some issue had caused my machine to restart. And wanted me to submit the details to error reporting, which I did. Anybody else have that happen? Just wondering if this could also be related.

No such restart here but I'm on my Windows 7 side of the dual boot.

Have the same issue here. Checked view on my IE9 and it was 150% set it back to 125%. When I looked again it became 124% something weird here. It may be at forum server end.

I THINK this is going to prove to be a PHP version missmatch. I will be getting with the host this evening after work to have them allow depreciated values in PHP.

I'm running windows 8 and chrome.

I'm in an email discussion with the hosting as I type to see if they can 'lock' all PHP settings as they are and prevent 'automatic' changes from happening.

I can select from several PHP versions in my control panel but, to be honest, I have no idea as to what options to select from each version, there are a LOT. Also have requested info on this from the host.

UPDATE:

I suspected early on that all the issues were caused by a blown PHP update. In a way I was right, the update was not blown but there seems to be a glitch involved with the update. It tends to want to overwrite non standard PHP settings and to make itself the default version regardless of previous settings.

The hosting is very aware of the issue and the cause. They are working to fully correct. They believe that they have it to the point where it should not happen again here but only time will tell for sure.

Hopefully it will not but if this is seen again please let me know ASAP.
