Location: The state of confusion; I just use Wyoming for mail.
I have four email address that I monitor and one is a Hotmail account using Exchange. Every morning when I get up I have an alert that the Hotmail account could not connect to Exchange. No big deal as I just close the alert and go on without issue.

The reason I wonder if Exchange is always connected is that I have my router set to automatically re-boot every day at 4:30 AM. If Exchange is looking to always be connected this would explain the morning alert.

For a possible followup I just enabled diagnostics for Exchange which may end up giving more info than just the generic not able to connect alert. LOL! Of course I won't know if I get more info until morning. ;)

I don't recall ever having this when using Outlook as my email client. I am now using eM Client so it could be client specific as to the alert.

This is not a big deal so please don't take your time doing all kinds of searches. Just 'POP3' ( ) in if something comes to mind. :) Hmmm, I wonder if I could just change my Hotmail account to POP3; a quick search seems to indicate that I can. My other tree accounts are already POP3.

Exchange is typically "always" connected. What I find odd is that the message doesn't clear after it reconnects when your router comes back -- unless emClient doesn't retry after a connection failure...

Not that strange that the alert does not automatically go away as it is a report from the operation logs. Later connections are fine as I will get new emails between the failure notice and when I drag my butt out of bed. ;)

Ah! So it is simply the dialog that needs clearing...

That is correct Steve. Although, to be honest, the dialog does not even need to be cleared, just the dialog box closed. I just prefer to clear the text.
