I would like to know if YouTube can run on Microsoft Edge browser or not. I couldn't get any of the videos play on YouTube. All I got is the gray box with the error message:

An error occurred. Please try again later.

(Playback ID: rExxnFeXrHTn0A7x)

I am not sure if YouTube can run on Microsoft Edge but I can run the videos on YouTube with Google Chrome.

Any ideas with this problem or Microsoft Edge won't run YouTube at all.

Thank you,

John

Can you give a link to a specific YouTube video that fails? While I use Internet Explorer as a rule I just went to YouTube in Edge and had no problem.

Jay -- I got YouTube working now on Internet Explorer. Guess that I will use Internet Explorer for YouTube and Microsoft Edge for other stuff like internet surfing.

Here is the link that I did try to run YouTube on Microsoft Edge and doesn't work so switch over to Internet Explorer. Can watch the video on YouTube with no problem.

Thank you,

I also have no issue with Edge and your YouTube link. Have you changed any security settings within Edge?

Jay -- I don' t remember if I did make the changes in security settings within Edge? If I did and where do I find to correct the security settings within Edge?

Hmmm, I was looking for an option to reset to default but don't see. Still, as a first step, you should go to Options in Edge then Advanced. Make sure that Flash is enabled.

Yes I did and already enabled for Flash. So I decided to disable then enable Flash but still the same.

I assume that you have totally powered down including removing power from the wall (also pulling the battery if a laptop) and then reconnecting and powering up.

Other than that do the following.
Method 1:
I suggest you clear the Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions (…) icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.

2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.

3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

If the issue still persists, follow the below method.

Method 2:
You may try to check if the issue persists in the private browsing. Open the EDGE browser, Click on the More actions (…) button on top right corner of EDGE and click on New InPrivate Window to browse the internet in private Window.

I just did both as your suggestions and still no go with YouTube on Microsoft Edge. Anyway I will go ahead to stick with Internet Explorer for YouTube and Microsoft Edge for surfing on the Internet or webmail too. The only thing I can think of is to have a clean install of Windows 64X Pro on my desktop. But I am not going to do this today and maybe on next weekend unless someone have another solution to solve this problem. Want to thank you Jay for your help with this to see if can solve the problem.

I would strongly advise against a clean install for an issue such as this. It just is not worth the time involved.

It is my bad that I did not include this in the above instructions but did you re-start the system after following my instructions?

I don't like video help procedures, but try #2 and maybe #3 and #4 in this one:

Jay and Stephen,

I follow your suggestions and YouTube still is NOT working in Microsoft Edge. I think that it's time to go on and will use Internet Explorer for YouTube videos. I am not sure what is corrupt inside Microsoft Edge for YouTube or something in Microsoft Windows 10 64X Professional operating system like registry.

Thank you for your best effort to help me trying to solve the problem with this.

John

Good news and almost there to fix the Adobe Flash. I found the link and might be helpful for others too. And here is below:

https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-8541#jive_content_id_OS_Version_1703__Enable_Flash_Player

The only thing is that when I type the link with Youtube in Microsoft Edge and pick the video to watch. First doesn't work then I have to restart the browser and the video can play and I can watch them. Also I wonder if I can get them working with no problem without restarting the browser every time. Maybe I should ask Adobe support forums to see what they have to say about this.

Will keep you post about this.

John

It would seem that, if you select to always allow, you should be good to go on YouTube. The instructions state that it is on a per site basis, not a per video basis. I would think that selecting to always allow on YouTube would cover everything on YouTube. Since I cannot duplicate your issue I can't say this for sure.

Since you are running Windows 10 Pro you can use the second option, Group Policies, to enable Flash for all sites. If you were running Windows 10 Home you would not have the option of Group Policies but do with Pro.

In Adobe support forum that I got and say " disable " but should I change to " enable " to allow the Adobe Flash in gpedit.msc Let me know if I should change this from disable to enable.

I believe it should be disabled but you can try it both ways.

I will leave this as is because of the Adobe support forum mentioned this to be disable. I will follow whatever they said.

The next rounds of updates will probably change something in Edge and it will start to work automagically.
