I am looking to pick up this Samsung 970 Evo, However, my concern is that if it will be potential bottleneck for it to reach the average read and write speed of the Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

When you say Samsung 970 EVO and Samsung EVO NVMe M.2 I have to assume that the first is a SATA SSD while the second, of course being M.2, is PCIe. Bottom line is that the M.2 version is going to operate MUCH faster but possibly not as fast as its specs.. It depends on the M.2 socket version. Here is a comparison of a SATA SSD and 2 M.2 drives on my system.
    * Sandisk 240 GB SATA3 SSD - 550 MB/second reads.
    * WD 500 GB M.2 PCIe SSD on a standard M.2 slot - 1800 MB/sec reads.
    * Samsung 960 EVO 500 GB M.2 SSD on an Ultra M.2 slot - 3100 MB/sec reads.
In any case the M.2 is going to operate much faster but the M.2 slot version is also a factor. A SATA SSD will never operate as fast as an M.2 as the M.2 uses a PCIe buss which is much faster than SATA. A SATA SSD will still operate much faster than a mechanical spin drive but never reach the speeds of an M.2 PCIe drive.

Jay, my Samsung EVO 950 SSD is connected by SCSI. I'm wondering how my speed compares to your specs. How do I determine SSD speed?

Samsung has a utility that will benchmark the speed.

Thanks....that sounds like a very inclusive utility that does a lot of things.

It works OK. I just wonder sometimes with utilities that are brand specific like this even though it will work on other drives as long as a Samsung is installed. What I wonder is if they slant tests to make themselves look better.

As a note, if you run the utility, it will place itself in the Notification ares by the clock. To totally exit the utility you need to right click the icon and select to exit. This is common and the same with similar utilities from Sandisk and Western Digital.

Is there have any M.2 PCIe SSD which have to speed like Samsung 960 EVO M.2 3100 MB/sec reads?

If I understand your question correctly the 970 EVO you mentioned has the same or higher speed abilities. The thing is that even if the drive is capable of the speeds does not mean that you will actually see those speeds as there are several factors involved. First is the fact that your system has to have an M.2 slot. Second is the version of the slot. Both of my M.2 drives are rated at 3200 MB/sec reads one only gets 1800 MB/sec due to the slot being an older version. It's like SATA 2 and SATA 3. You can connect the same drive to either connection but it will run slower on the SATA 2 connection than the SATA 3 connection. It is the same with M.2 connections.
