Have a hand full of old USB keys that I want to reformat and reuse. I know enough to make them all FAT32. But some were done (not by me) with an allocation unit size of 16 and some were done with a size of 4096. Does it really matter? I will be using these keys for a variety of purposes.
Thanks, Bill

Hard question to answer Bill. It boils down to on what device the USB drives will be used. If strictly on your PC I'd say to actually go NTFS but that would make it unreadable on some devices.

FAT32 is the safest way to go. Between 16 and 4096 you MAY find it hard to change as Windows 10 does not normally allow formatting in FAT32.

Best advice that I can give is to leave them alone unless you run in to a problem with one of them.
