On an older computer I am running Win 7 and Win 10 in dual mode. My mouse (Logitech M310) works fine in the Win 10 mode but not in the Win 7 mode. I have shut the computer down, rebooted several times and changed the battery, but the mouse still doesn't work in the Win 7 mode.

Any thoughts or ideas as to the problem and solution? Thanks in advance....

Well, since it works in 10 it would seem that it isn't the mouse.

Had you made any changes to 7? You might try a a different mouse to see if it works. If it does I'd probably try a system restore.

Jay, the mouse is now working. This particular computer has nine USB 2.0 ports, and I've had problems with a couple of these. So I moved my mouse dongle to a different port and the mouse now works. Thanks for your response.

I find that quiet odd but am happy its working. :) The reason that I find it odd is that it worked in 10 but not 7 initially and it was the same USB port. Makes me wonder if you may not have a bad USB driver in the 7 install. :dunno:

Jay, I guess I'm not very good at updating my drivers. When I go to Device Manager and check on the driver for any device, Microsoft usually comes back and tells me that the best driver is already installed.

And in this case, how would I go about updating the Win 7 driver for a particular USB port? Or for any USB port?

The first step would be tedious. You would use Device Manager to remove USB controllers one at a time and re-booting to all Windows to reinstall.

To be honest, as it is now working, you are probably best off just letting it go. ;)
