I have my Win 10 V1909 connected to my Marantz AVR. All HDMI ports are 2.2 compliant and the AVR supports 4K and HDR. My Sony Bravia 4K HDR10 compliant TV is connected using the ARC ports on both the AVR and the TV. All connections are using HDMI 2.2 cables.

On my computer there is no button for turning HDR on or off. I'm using the Inter UHD Graphics 630 as the main graphics. This is integrated into the motherboard. All drivers are current. I'm at a loss as to why this setting is missing. I have a support ticket in with Intel. I should hear from them on Monday, I hope.

I'm interested in any ideas you might have. Thanks.

Might be missing HEVC or VP9 codecs.

You may find this of interest.

Thanks dvair. According to the information supplied I may have erred when choosing my MoBo and CPU. I checked the specs on both. I think I'm stuck.

i5-9600 Specs
The i5-9600 CPU can send:
Max Resolution (HDMI 1.4)‡ 4096x2304@24Hz
Max Resolution (DP)‡ 4096x2304@60Hz
Max Resolution (eDP - Integrated Flat Panel)‡ 4096x2304@60Hz

ASRock Z370 Specs
The ASRock Z370 MoBo can send:
- Supports HDMI with max. resolution up to 4K x 2K (4096x2160) @ 30Hz
- Supports DVI-D with max. resolution up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz
- Supports Auto Lip Sync, Deep Color (12bpc), xvYCC and HBR (High Bit Rate Audio) with HDMI Port (Compliant HDMI monitor is required)
- Supports HDCP with DVI-D and HDMI Ports
- Supports 4K Ultra HD (UHD) playback with HDMI Port

Jay that was an interesting read. I'm sure the codecs will advancing quickly to help with the heavy streaming video content.

Sorry to hear that it won't work for you Terry. Won't for me either due to my TVs. My mobo, CPU and video will handle it but my screens will not. To me, though, it isn't a big deal as video on a DVD level is plenty good enough for me. :)

One definite thing that seems to kill you is your CPU HDMI limit being a max of HDMI 1.4 where you would need HDMI 2.x to do what you want. I wonder if a dedicated video card could get around this but I'd do a LOT of research before investing.

Yes the regular Blu-ray quality has improved greatly in the last few years. The reason could possibly be because of the new technologies used to create 4K Ultra disks. I wasn’t aware of the necessary 2.x requirement when I bought the MoBo and CPU. I read 4K capable in the both specs thought I was good.

I do have a dedicated Radeon 580X VGA installed as well. The AMD audio driver actually works better than the Intel audio driver. The thing is I have to choose which graphics chip I use inside the BIOS. When I choose onboard (Intel) I don’t have access to the AMD sound. The card actually works great but it won’t interact with the Intel 4K HDCP 2.2 technology to play 4K disks using the PowerDVD software and Pioneer player.

I am very disappointed in myself. I really thought I did the proper research. I wanted to rip the 4K movie to internal HDDs and save wear on the movie disks. Maybe in the future. It’s not pressing now.

Today I tried one last, different approach. I turned on the computer and disabled the Radeon RX580 VGA card. This made the Intel 630 GPU the sole display source. I then launched PowerDVD 19 and moved it to my Sony TV monitor. I inserted a 4K disk and pressed play. PowerDVD displayed a message very quickly about something that's needed to play wasn't found and proceeded to add something. I don't know what it added. After that I am now able to play 4k Ultra movies. The HDR button is still missing but isn't necessary as long as I can play movies. I'm watching Mission Impossible: Fallout as I type this.

I have also re-enabled the Radeon VGA. This was purely dumb luck but hey sometimes it's better to be lucky then good. :D
