When to replace the batteries.
One I bought in Oct 2016 and the other in March 2014.

Location: The state of confusion; I just use Wyoming for mail.
Mine (2 units) will alert me if there is a battery problem and yours should also. If you want to put out the make and model we can check if the unit has this feature, most do.

I don't see any specifics on the unit as to warnings but would still expect that it would alert if there were to be an issue with the battery. Almost all of these units will alert if there is a battery issue.

Not having any problems.
Both units say the batteries are fully charged.

As they age, the most typical outcome will be that the run time in a power failure is reduced from when it was a new unit.

I've had two die on me thru the years, they both beeped to let me know. They were both much older than yours, so my guess is that you've got at least a few years left with them.
