I have several hundred photos that I've burned to a CD and wish to share with family members. They all are .mpg and are in 2 folders. All created in Win 7. Will this CD work on an Apple computer?

Are you sure that they are .mpg and not .jpg? .mpg is a video file format. Anyway, the possible issue is not the file format but the CD/DVD format. I think some but not all Macs can read the Joliet File System which I believe is the default Windows burning format. You should burn the CD/DVD using the ISO 9660 File System. If you don't have a third party program that will burn ISO 9660 find one at the following link called Microburner. It is old but reliable. It is also a stand-alone single file program that does not need to be installed. http://jaylach.com/downloadsOnce running go to File then Advanced and uncheck 'Joliet File System'. Another option, if available, would be to just upload the images to cloud storage and let them download.

Hey, the best option may be to put the photos on a flash drive formatted as FAT32. exFAT would be more efficient but older Windows systems (pre XP SP3) and Macs (pre 10.6.5 'Snow Leopard') are not able to read exFAT.

Well, so far, I've found a friend with a 12 year old Apple lap top and my disc worked fine in it. If the disc fails with others, I think I'll go with the flash drive way. Thanks.

12 year old Apple? My guess then is that you are already burning in an ISO 9660 format as that old of an Apple should not be able to read a Joliet format. Although there IS free software available to allow an Apple that cannot read Joliet by default to be able to do so.

Decided against discs and sent out flash drives. Reported to work just fine with the Apple users. Cheap 5 pack of PNYs from BestBuy did the job> Thanks....
