I know, I'm probably the only gamer here but still...  Again through GOG.com I got a great deal. I got all 5 Oddworld games for ~$16.00. So far I have only installed Abe's Odyssey and Munch's Odyssey. Abe's Odyssey was made in 1997 and is a linear platform game. Munch's Odyssey, 2001, is a full blown 3D type game where you can go wherever you want. The graphics are quite decent and it is fun. In all the games the characters are given full personalities and are hard to not like. In the first two games Abe is the main character but, in Munch's Odyssey, Munch takes over after Abe starts things off. Munch is also the star of a visualization for a Media Player included in the XP Plus bonus pack. BTW, XP Plus still works and can be found at http://jaylach.com/downloads/ In the unlikly chance you want to do XP Plus ignore the 2 or 3 missing files in the Space theme. In Windows 10 I DID have to set compatibility mode for Abe's Odyssey to XP SP3 but Munch ran fine as is. The package includes: Abe's Odyssey Abe's Exodus Munch's Odyssey; I know if Patty sees this she will recognize the character Munch. Stranger's Wrath New 'N' Tasty Here are Abe and Munch. Well I know and love Mario. Have never played an RPG game, as they never appealed to me, so I don't know that one.

So think of Mario where you can go to any level you want within a single world. All levels are included within one. Since you have never done an RPG I don't know if the above would make any sense. I prefer puzzle games, I have the entire series of Professor Layton for Nintendo. The first 4 in the series were in 2D so I played them on my NintendoDS XL then they released the last 2 but they were in 3D so I got myself the Nintendo3DS XL, I can still play all the 2D games on it. Playing the games in 3D is brilliant it gives them so much more reality. They have just published a new game but apparently the Professor is missing and it's his daughter who does all the puzzle solving, the first time there's been any mention he had a daughter.  I'll have to wait till the price comes down before I can afford that one, if I bother.

I did that once, Jay. Got an emulator download, but it was too much of a hassle to play.

Hmmm, Do you remember what Emulator? I use SNES9x version 1.52. I really see no difference between it and a game console but then I have a gamepad. Keyboard control just really does not work well. I also have a PS1 emulator that works really well. LOL! I actually still have about a dozen working PS1 CDs but ripped then to ISO format for the emulator. Really there only 2 PS1 games I play; MediEvil and Spyro the Dragon. Again I have a gamepad. The pad is pretty nice being sort of a combination between a PS and Xbox controller. In fact, even though it is Logitech, Windows sees it as an Xbox controller.

M.A.M.E. stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. It is an emulator for arcade games, not the SNES console. This is what you would want for the SNES console. https://www.emulator-zone.com/snes/snes9xYou will have the choice of 32 or 64 bit. I've been using it for so long I've never used the 64 bit version. If going to another system I just copy the original install directory and it works fine. Again a gamepad is preferred.

A very quick online search suggests MAME might still be getting developed: http://mamedev.org/Not so sure how easy finding reliable ROM's might be though

The last time I had M.A.M.E installed it came with a bunch of common ROMS already included.

Jay, you could well be right, it was so long ago I don't recall... it was back in the days when the net was about more than making money and advertising revenue was still a dream of the few

You also have to download a BIOS for the machine. I found a BIOS pack but will have to mess with it as to what to use.
