Ya, I think I'll kick it up to Windows 11. Actually quite a while back when could do for free from Windows 10 I DID have Windows 11 Pro on the thing but dropped back to Windows 10 due to extremely slow wireless reception. I figured that Windows 11 might have been affecting the wireless receiver but it is just as slow with Windows 10 so why not bring it back up to Windows 11. Since the Surface previously had Windows 11 there is no activation issue as the system already has a digital license associated. Since the Surface is used almost totally as an eBook reader the wireless speed really does not matter.

That will leave my two desktops and the Windows side of my Mac Book dual boot still on Windows 10. My micro system already is on Windows 11. My main system had boot issues with Windows 11 a while back but I don't really know if the cause was a Windows 11 update or something else. Before upgrading my main I'll make a current clone so, if boot issues return, I can just copy back from the clone. My second desktop will in no way qualify for Windows 11 as it is somewhere around 11 years old. The Mac Book also does not qualify. Before I decide what to do with these two systems I'll have to check for current registry hacks to bypass the qualifying checks.

To be honest I don't really see a lot of need to upgrade the second desktop or the Mac Book with having to buy Windows 11 for both.. Can't remember the last time the second desktop was even on-line so I'm not all that concerned about infections on the system if I were to leave with Windows 10. This system is mainly for data and media backup, probably hasn't gone on-line in a few years. As to the Mac Book... If the Windows side of the dual boot gets infected I don't really care as I have VERY little as to installed apps. Also, on the Mac Book, a Windows infection is not going to affect the Mac side. In the worst case I wipe the Windows partition and re-do Windows and just a few apps, not really much of a concern.

I'm in agreement with your plan. :-)
My desktop, unable to upgrade to Windows 11, will be replaced before Windows 10 End of Life hits. I've been looking at a few options... My Surface Pro 7 is on the Windows 11 Beta Channel and my Surface Laptop 3 and my wife's desktop are on production Win11

Steve, unlike Jay, I am not capable (physically or mentally) of building my own computer. So about 2-1/2 years ago I bought an ASUS Gaming Desktop Computer with an 8-core Ryzen 7 Processor and 64GB of Ram. The internal drives are a 1TB SSD and a 2TB HDD. Then I coupled it with a 34" curved Samsung Monitor.

Thus far I have had zero problems with this desktop.

I will be doing the same thing to my main desktop. All I need to do is to build the new one. It sits in boxes and I am about getting to the point when I will have some free time. I continue to work each day on cleaning the house and doing everything over. Since SETI is no more, I do not even keep my other desktops running. I will miss all those cores going full tilt on the other projects I run on my main desktop.

Actually I could upgrade my main system to be Windows 11 qualified by replacing the CPU with a later generation chip but an AMD Ryzen 7 8-core/16-thread CPU is not cheap and I'd then have one of an earlier generation that I'd have no use. I'd prefer to leave the system as is and try Windows 11 again to see what happens. Like I said initially I really don't know if the boot issues were caused by an update or not. The issue could have just as easily been caused by experiments being done with adapters to mount M.2 drives in PCIe slots.
