Trying an experiment with my micro PC. I'm seeing if I can basically turn it into a game console. Two games that must work for this are Baldur's Gate 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn. Since the graphics is just an integrated Intel UHD 600 it is questionable as to if it can run these games but videos of the games running on this graphics look pretty good so who knows. Fable Lost Chapters is another I would not mind installing and it is old enough that there should be no issue but I want to try the two newer ones before things that should not be an issue. Of course they all run fine on my main system but I could only install one at a time without running below desired free space on my system drive. The graphics displays 4K video fine but that is a lot different than rendering game graphics.
I won't know the result for several hours as combined they are around a 185GB download from Steam. At least this isn't causing me any real time as both my main and micro go to the same 43 inch monitor so, as like now, I just set the display input to my main system and switch to the display for the micro now and then to check progress. This would all go a LOT quicker if I could used a wired network connection on the micro but it only has wireless.
If the two 'must' games are OK I'll try Everspace 1&2 which are pretty graphics intensive. However these are not a must as they don't take nearly as much drive space and both are on my main still leaving me 248 GB free.
<edit> Oh, if this works I'll see how my PS1, SNES, Nintendo64 and Atari computer emulators work on the micro. I don't think that the Atari computers (800 and ST) along with the SNES would be any issue but the PS1 and N64 are a question mark.

LOL! Well that didn't go well. Both games failed. Not really surprised with the low level video but worth a shot.

Actually I wish I hadn't already uninstalled Baldur's Gate 3 as it would start but fail with a DirectX 11 or 12 fault. Not right now as I'm watching a ball game but I'll end up using 'dxdiag' on the micro to see what version is there if any. If it is missing or below DirectX 11 I'll update and try again with the two games. Never should have uninstalled the games as combined they are about 185 GB download which does go very fast as I can't use a wired connection with the micro meaning that I'm doing that download again with a 20-30 Mb/sec wireless connection.
Actually I just fired up the micro and checked dxdiag and it is running DirectX 12 so I suppose there is no real reason to try again. The integrated Intel UHD 600 video just can't handle. Again, no big surprise. I mean I thought it possible but didn't really expect things to work as both games are pretty intensive. In fact Baldur's Gate 3 requires it to be installed on an SSD for drive access speed. LOL! At least the micro meets that as the system drive is a 1 TB M.2 SATA drive.
Bottom line is that I tried and it didn't work, no big deal. If I really went through all that is installed on my main I could probably free up enough space to install both games on my main but can't with the current installs as it would only leave me around 65 GB free which is not enough on a 1 TB drive for proper operation. There are things that I could move to my data drive as to installs such as my PS1 emulator. Just that one move would free ~18 GB on my system drive. I could even move my video editing software to my date drive which would not affect the operation of such software once loaded. Shoot my data drive has like 620 GB free space. Hmmm, what else could I move to my data drive? MS Office 365 is an easy pick along with things like Power DVD and PaintShop Pro; many other possibilities also. I have 620 GB free on my data drive and it is also a PCIe M.2 drive so what would I lose other than nothing? To keep things familiar just make a folder on my data drive called 'programs' and re-install what I can to that folder. I mean I have software to do video capture kind of like a DVR that could also go to my data drive. I would be surprised if I could not free at least 300 GB on my system drive. Hey, something to play with. ') Take my sort of DVR software... Output would still go to my video conversion drive which is also an M.2 PCIe 512 GB drive. Do I lose any real performance? I think not.

Ahhhhh, why move a bunch of installs to make room on my system drive when I can just install the games to my data drive instead?

LOL! I DID move a couple of emulators from my system drive to my data drive; PS1 and N64. Needed to upgrade the N64 emulator anyway and PS1 was taking close to 20 GB due to many ROM files (actually ISO files). I actually still have a stack of PS1 CDs. Actually I can use the CDs with the PS1 emulator but the ISO (BIN) files have faster access and don't skip. Actually I am in the process of moving another RPG game to my data drive. I don't do it often as I've beaten it several times but Fable can still be fun at times. Since I don't often play might as well get it off of my system drive. Frees another 10 GB on the system drive. I have WAY too many installs but I have fun.

To close this both 'major' games are fine installed on my data drive as are the emulators. I end up with 274 GB free on my system drive and 378 GB free on my data drive. This works for me and all run fine.
