This nice utility is free today. Get it and read about it here: http://safelyremove.com/giveaway2014.htm

Thanks Manny. :)

Installed and registered on all three of my systems. I have never used this before but think that I will like, especially on my Win 7 media system. An external drive is almost always connected to the media system but only on if I'm watching movies. I like the Win 7 aspect that allows the software to turn off the drive when it disconnects. Shame that it can't do that in Win 8.

It's a good program. I have their updated version Zentimo. It was worth the few bucks.

I have this installed and find it great to use, I've had it quite sometime now. ;-)

I bet it's now converted to the 30 day free trial. Typically you can get a free license within the 24 hour time period from Giveaway of the Day. They did this one a little different where the vendor sent a license directly rather than the wrapper from the giveaway site.

Today it's a corrupt file recovery program [NTFS mechanic] that I'm about to give a try: http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ntfs-me ... the+Day%29

Actually it emailed me another code. Also a user on another forum tried and all seemed good. Then again I did not try to install the last code and it is possible that the other user doesn't know that he didn't get the real thing but it also emailed him a code.

Doesn't appear to be, i never installed it first time round as I've never had an issue with USB devices no matter how I've unplugged them (not that i'm prone to hot switching them) but i just tried the following link to see what would happen: http://safelyremove.com/giveaway2014.htm
I registered before downloading the software and got the following email:

Quote:
Dear xxxxxx,

Congratulations, you are now the owner of the license for USB Safely Remove!

License conditions:
* The license is valid only for v. 5.2 so if you wish to get future updates
or technical support consider purchasing the PRO version:
http://safelyremove.com/order.htm
* You can use this version for lifetime

Don't forget to download and install the program first (if you haven't done it):
http://safelyremove.com/startdownload.htm?v=5.2gtd

To finish the registration, right click to the program icon in the system tray,
choose "Help -> Enter License Key..." and use the following information:

============================================================

Your registration name: xxxxx
Your registration code: xxxxx

============================================================

If you have problems entering the key, please read this article:
http://safelyremove.com/enterkey.htm

Please, don't forget to keep the key and this letter in a reliable place.

I then downloaded the software from the original link above and it has registered me with version 5.2.4.1215 after inputting the registration details in the email.
License Type: Free giveaway license valid for version 5.2 only.

The key piece of information i suspect is that supplied in the registration email: "You can use this version for lifetime".

At time of posting the offer is still available for 4 days 10 hours from http://safelyremove.com/giveaway2014.htm

LOL! I never even noticed the 'expire time'. It looks like this was a week long offer, not just one day. Since the offer was made 8/18/2014 and it is now ~4:50 PM 8/21/2014 it has to have been a week long offer.

As an added 'WOW'... I just tried something with this utility. In Win Vista and 7 it has the ability to physically turn off the device. I just discovered that the removed device will still be listed even if removed. If you click on the removed device it will physically turn it back on. I run a media system connected via HDMI to a 42 inch HDTV. I also have an external drive to which I have archived around 350 DVD movies. This utility allows me to remotely, using my mouse, turn this external drive on and off. I LOVE it!
