My kind of music plain and simple. While I appreciated ELO they were not my normal 'listen'. I was set more into stuff like Pink Floyd, Mountain. Moody Blues and James Gang. Of course I would NEVER admit to also loving such performers as The Carpenters, Bread, Monkeys and Carley Simon but I did... and still do....

Shoot, liking older music isn't a real secret with me. It is what I listen to...

Let me set an example and take the song 'House Of The Rising Sun'. Every band that wanted to get a name did the thing but only one that I know of thought that it could be a whole lot better and made it so. In 1969 the band Frijid Pink did just that. I would be amazed if you don't know the song but you may have not heard it quite like this. No video but the audio is quite good for the time. Actually the audio is pretty good for any time.

Here is a video version. Audio is OK but the video lacks. After all it is over 50 years old...

Just boils down to a band sort of bonding to a specific song.

Also Karen Carpenter was a pretty decent drummer. Very seldom complicated but always very clean and precise.

I might have old versions of House of the Rising Sun that i downloaded from NNTP about 30 years ago somewhere, it never ceases to amaze me what i saved to disc back then... a lot of what i saved to HDD was discarded when i flushed my PC several years ago, if it was on CD then it will be gone, i saved what i wanted to my HDD and i might still have it in my MP3 folder... i'll get back to you on that :)
