Post subject:  An Audiovisual Problem

This is not about computers per se, but about electronics and I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience with this problem.

I have my Sony Bravia TV's signals coming from an Integra Network A/V receiver. Turning the system on results in an initial message at the bottom of the screen: "Audio system has been connected. If there is no sound, connect the system to HDMI3/ARC." It displays for about ten seconds and then goes away.

As of yesterday, that message is now popping up on the screen every 15 seconds and goes away again, only to reappear every 15 seconds. I've tried everything I can think of to stop this, but no luck. The audio and video are both operating properly, so there is no need for this message to be seen. If anyone has a suggestion, I'd surely appreciate hearing it.

I have no idea Gerry but you may want to look through the settings to see of there are any kind of notification options.

I assume that you have already connected via HDMI3.

No, there is no HDMI3 listed under "Inputs." And I have checked all the options that I can find. I should have mentioned that the notification is super-imposed over the TV picture, blocking only a small portion at the bottom frame, thank goodness. I have an A/V guy coming in today and hopefully he will find the answer.

Problem solved! Buried deep within the Integra receiver menus is something called "HDMI CEC". When I turned that off, the message disappeared. A friend, who has the same receiver, told me where to find the solution.

Gerry, if I may ask a question. LOL! If I get going it could be 20 questions.

Network A/V receiver... To start with one question that could rule out any others..... Are you talking about a surround sound receiver? If so I didn't think in that direction.
