WOW! Would I be out of line in saying that this weekend's three game series between the twins and Tribe is the biggest series of the year in baseball this year? The Tribe NEEDS to sweep which is not impossible as they hold a series lead this year of 9-7 and the three games are in Cleveland.

Thanks. :)

I was a bit surprised though. I thought they picked up the rest of the game from where it was postponed, not start over.

:dunno: I guess the powers that be decided starting over is the easy way to go.

By your " :dunno: " I take it that you thought the same as I? I could be wrong but would swear that was the way it used to be... continuing the game from where it was postponed.

<edit>
I just searched the rules and the best I can figure from "rule gibberish" is that the game was postponed due to being tied and is considered a null game and started over. If either team had had a lead it would have been ruled as a suspended game and continued instead of started over. Personally I think that is dumb. If a game has not reached complete game status, 5 innings, it should be continued from where it was plain and simple. Why should it matter if tied or a team ahead? Just too many weird rules in pro sports! I mean do we even really understand the rules that determine if a catch is a catch in the NFL? :mrgreen:

I hope that I'm not out of line asking but you said you were having medical issues a bit back. How are you doing?

I consider myself rather blessed. I'll be hitting 65 years old soon and take no prescription medications nor do I have any persistent aches or pains. I really don't understand this as I have not treated my body gently through my life. The only aches I tend to have is in my right knee due to surgery for blowing the thing out playing football. A few years ago the V.A. wanted to do a knee replacement as the knee is bone on bone but I didn't like the idea so I bought a bicycle and started riding. The muscles around the knee became strong enough to give support and I no longer need the replacement. I can't say that I can do the rides I used to do but I can do about ten miles without much discomfort. Not bad for an old fart. ;) Sigh, I used to do 40-50 miles 3-4 times a week. I don't think I'll ever see that again... ;) LOL! I actually got pulled over by a cop back in the day for speeding on my 10-speed in a 35 MPH zone. He actually just pulled me over to warn me to be careful but did say that he'd give me a speeding ticket except for the fact that he'd be laughed off the force. Of course he was just playing with me but it always made me wonder if I could have actually raced competitive with a good bike. I had legs from hell, 26 inch thighs, and did as many leg presses with 530 pounds as you wanted. I weighed ~165 pounds. He paced me at, I think, ~43 MPH on a $50.00 Huffy 10-speed.

I wish my young mind would catch up with my old body but mayhaps it is better for me that it does not. Who knows; possibly it is my refusal to grow up that has me doing so well as to health... Shoot, I've had a late 30's to early 40's V.A. doctor tell me that she wished her blood test results were like mine. :mrgreen:

Sigh! I bragged too much on my health and just tipped over dead. Don't be surprised if I keep posting as I'm too belligerent to accept the fact that I can no longer post just because death tries to get in the way... :mrgreen:

Still dealing with stuff. I'm glad you are doing so well. The cop and bike story is
great.

Some much for a home sweep :roll: Oh well

Ya, the Tribe is now even in a bind for a wild card spot.

Well at least the Tribe took one game in the Twins series. Puts them 4.5 games behind the Twins with 12 games left. Depending on what Tampa does today they will be either 2 or 2.5 games out of a wild card spot but the Tribe has an easier last 12 games than the Rays.

Sigh, I know I'm reaching, but it may even be better if the Tribe was a wild card. Going by the season records I'd rather face the Twins/Yankees over the Rays. The Tribe has a winning season record against both the Yankees and Twins but a losing record against the Rays.

While it is possible that the Tribe still takes the division over the Twins it would take a total breakdown of the Twins. The Tribe would need to win around 9 out of the last 12 and the Twins would need to lose 8 or 9 out of 13. LOL! Let's hope the Twins are feeling over conficent. :D

Only thing they can do is keep winning. Let it play out

Ya, I know. Still it seems to just get harder and harder. Now they have lost Jason Kipnis for the duration. All boils down to if the depth is there.

You are right but there is still something that bothers me...

This is a pet peeve of mine. Any time an American League team plays in a National League park they lose the ability to use a designated hitter. Any time a National League team plays in an American League park they get to use a designated hitter. In ANY inter-league game this gives the National League an advantage whether it be regular season or playoffs. Of course there is the argument that both teams are equal in either case but that is just not the case. National League pitchers have to bat in the vast majority of their games where American League pitchers do not. Absolute advantage to the National League in either case.

Of course the National League isn't about to adopt a designated hitter any more than the American League is about to get rid of the designated hitter. Personally I'd like to see the American League to get rid of the designated hitter as it takes away several points of the chess game of baseball. So why bring this up?

Six out of the last nine Tribe games are against National League teams. This weekend's series against the Phillies is in Cleveland so the Tribe still gets to use the Designated hitter so it is just a matter of the Phillies being able to add a hitter they normally could not.

Now we go to the last three Tribe Games. They are against the Nationals in Washington. The Tribe will not be able to use a designated hitter giving the Nationals a distinct advantage. This is just not fair in a playoff drive. So how do we fix this?

Neither league is about to change their view of the designated hitter in the near future but there still must be a solution. Actually a Tribe announcer presented the answer in Friday's Tribe/Phillies game. Make it so that there are no inter-league games in the last month of the season.

I like the DH. Look at it this way . The Tribe pitchers will see live pitching
Good practice if they make the World Series :) :roll:

The NL will have the DH within 5 years. IMHO

Do you really think that the NL will adopt the DH? I sort of figured that the NL, and NL fans, took a bit of pride as to being old school.

I'm not totally against the DH but I do think it takes a lot of strategy out of the game.

<edit>
Sigh, I never thought that I'd be pulling for the Red Sox but they ARE playing the Rays..... LOL! Don't mind me... I'm just all hyper as to a playoff drive. :mrgreen:

How much story book can you get? If a Hollywood script no one would believe. Jose Ramirez, in his first game back after a month off with hand surgery, hits a two out grand slam in his first at bat. What an amazing lift for the Tribe!

<edit>
So let's add a three run homer in Jose Ramirez's second at bat..... :mrgreen:

And now I HAVE to pull for the "danged" Yankees???? since they are playing the Rays????? What a disgrace!!! :rofl2:

Actually this is something that I don't understand. Neither the Yanks or Red Sox are even in the Tribe's division yet Cleveland fans tend to hate both. Probably something from ancient history...

And what was that throw home from Santana all about in the bottom of the 1st? Easy play at home and Santana throws the ball ten feet over everyone's head... :dunno:
