We used to say that it didn't matter if one was 15-0 and the other 0-15; you still could not pick who was going to win.

While I may exaggerate if I were the Browns coaching I'd throw the ball less than 15 times per game the rest of the season excluding those pass plays that are really extended hand offs. I would run and run and run. Chubb would be my primary back alternating Higgins and Hunt as a second back in a dual back offense. In cases where they needed less than five yards I'd put Chubb and Hunt in the backfield with Higgins wide. I would probably put Higgins as a tight end due to his potential yards after the catch. You now have Chubb, Higgins, Hunt, Landry and OBJ as targets either through a pass or hand off. The reason that I want Chubb and Hunt/Higgins in the backfield is that one either gets the hand off and the other blocks or, if a pass, one stays in as a pass blocker while the other flares out as an outlet. In a passing case I'd probably look at hunt as the back that stays for protection. In his short history I think that he shows the most as to being able to pick up the Blitz.

LOL! Can you find fault in what I've said above? ;) I THINK what I suggest would almost make it impossible for a defense to blitz giving Mayfield more time to do his whatever it is he does. Sigh, I DO wish Mayfield would work more on putting some touch on a ball. Then again, that is coaching...

With the talent the Browns have, They should run the ball most of the time.
what you said makes sense. I saw this article on CBSportsline

Interesting article. :)

LOL! As to my wanting them to run how about "On the ground in the Pound"? :rofl2:

BTW, I really liked the Jets' "dark" uniforms.

While I still like the Browns' "tradition" of not having a helmet logo I have always liked the Rams' helmets.

Thinking of "traditions" I thought that the Browns were the only team without an official cheerleader squad but there are six.
Bills
Packers
Steelers
Giants
Bears
Browns

Just learned something interesting about the Steelers vs Browns Thursday Night Game. Has nothing to do with happens in the NFL but is sort of wild.

The Steelers' Rudolph played for Oklahoma State and the Browns' Mayfield played for Oklahoma. They played against each other twice and Mayfield won both. The wild part is that the last time they played each other they each threw for five touchdowns and combined for over a thousand yards passing.

While that would be fun I think that I'd rather see the Browns run most of the time. ;) And PLEASE no screens unless you want a pick six by Fitzpatrick!

ArGGGG! Great that the Browns are up after the first quarter but come on... What is with Kitchens? Last week the Browns beat the Bills by running a dual back offense. Where is it? There were reasons that the Browns beat the Jets and Ravens. The following week Kitchens used none of those reasons... Kitchens needs to quit doing what he wants to work and do what actually works. Sigh, I guess I'm becoming a "Kitchens hater"...

Sorry but I'm a bit extreme when it comes to Browns/Steelers (rusted iron)

<Halftime update>
Ya, I'm happy that the Browns are up 14-0 but that score is as much due to the defense as the offense. RUN THE DANGED BALL!

<End of three quarters...>
RUN THE BALL! Up by seven after three but I'm not happy! RUN THE BALL with a dual back offense!!!

Browns win but I feel it was despite Kitchens, not due to his help. Still, a win is a win and I'm happy. The Browns' defense won this game, not the Kitchens' restricted idea of an offense. LOL! RUN THE DANGED BALL! :!:  :ugeek:

BTW! Looks like Chubb is the first runner to have 1000 yards in a season this early since Jim Brown.

And then there is the fiasco at the end that will probably cost the Browns Garrett for a few games... Coaching, lack of discipline. Just took the wind out of a good win...

Garrett is suspended indefinitely. Part of me feels that he should be banned for life. Apparently it seems that Rudolph was not all that innocent either as it looks like he is being fined. I also feel that Kitchens is accountable as it is another indication that he can't control the team.

I swear that I was less embarrassed to be a Browns fan when they went 0-16.

Well the Browns are still in wild card contention. Next week it is the Steelers again. That could be a brutal game. The officials are going to have to take control from the beginning. Personally, if they don't kill themselves with penalties, I think that the Browns can take them again. The Steelers could do nothing against the Bengals and the Browns beat Miami worse than the score of 41-24. Of course neither Miami nor the Bengals are good teams but the Browns easily handled Miami while the Steelers barely took the winless Bengals. I think that the Steelers just might miss center Maurkice Pouncey more than the Browns miss Miles Garrett.

Miles Garrett deserves his suspension but the Steelers' Randolph was not all that innocent either. The Browns will have Larry Ogunjobi back for the Steelers' game while the Steelers will still be without Maurkice Pouncey. It will be interesting as to how that plays out.

I just hope that the game does not get out of hand!

Hey, Your Jets won even if the Giants lost.

A question for you... Why are the Giants and Jets looked at as NY teams when they actually play in New Jersey yet the Bills are usually not when they are the only one of the three that actually play in NY?

Should be interesting game. Garrett is a liar. If Rudolf used a slur
that would have been the first thing out of Garrett's mouth. As soon as he
found out about his suspension out came the slur claim. Bullshit

When people think about NY football they think about NY metro area

When I say that Randolph was not totally innocent I don't even consider the claim of a verbal slur. The initial play by Garrett was totally legal and no flag was thrown until Garrett ripped of Randolph's helmet. While I in no way excuse Garrett's actions Rudolph initiated the helmet garbage. While they were still on the ground Rudolph grabbed the back of Garrett's helmet yanking. When they were again upright Rudolph went after Garrett which is when Garrett hit Randolph with the helmet. Both players were in the wrong and Garrett much more so.

I have NFL Game Pass and went back to that play, viewing in slow motion, several times. What is said above is what happened. I am not saying that the discipline against Garret is in the extreme. I'm just saying that Rudolph should have had more than just a fine.

While Garrett's mess up was more extreme both players were in the wrong. I mean the game is already over; just get up and walk away from the play.

All in all it was a sad day for both teams.

They way he played today, I would be surprised if Rudolph even starts, the "Duck Calling" kid was much better.

I bet nothing will happened. It will be expensive if somebody starts something
There will be a lot of eyes on the game. :auto2: The trick is to not get goaded
into anything Then again some of those guys aren't to bright.
We shall see.

While I hope the game is clean I expect a lot of really hard hits. But isn't that the usual case with Browns/Steelers

Hey, a couple of more questions...

1) A ball carrier giving a stiff arm to a defenders face mask. Why isn't this, at least, a hands to the face penalty?

2) A kickoff that is bouncing around in the end zone. Why is this not a loose ball that can be recovered by either team? I suppose it is a case of the receiving team conceding the play but, in my mind, the receiving team should have to cover the ball.

1- ball carrier can stiff arm because they only have one arm to protect themselves.
just make sure the hand is open . No grabbing

2- The receiving team should at least cover the ball like you said.

Sigh, I really thought that the Browns would take the Steelers today and think that they could have. I can't complain though as the game was clean and the Steelers just won fair and square. I did seem though that the Browns sort of changed a game plan in the second half that seemed to be working in the first half.

Oh well... now they MUST beat the Ravens in a few weeks to make my preseason prediction of the Browns finishing at 9-7. Unless it gets weird the Browns should beat the Bengals, twice, and the Cardinals. Can they beat the Ravens a second time? Don't know. They have the talent and beat them earlier in the season in Baltimore but the Ravens area different team now. At least the game will be in Cleveland. ;)

YIPPEE!!!! (college interlude) Miami of Ohio beat Central Michigan for the MAC championship. :) 8-)
Image
I have a soft spot for Miami of Ohio.

<edit>
Well the Browns won against the Bengals but they probably should not have done so. Cinci won every aspect of the game except for the final score. Still, a win is a win. I still don't get Kitchens and his play calls. Cinci is close, if not last, in the league as to run defense yet he won't run the ball in the first half. :dunno: I mean Mayfield is the leading Browns' rusher in the first half (or close to it) with 13 yards?????? Makes zero sense.

LOL! And now we have "Tape Gate" with the Patriots. I know that the Pats say that the video was for a TV series but it seems odd that the Cinci sidelines were being taped and the Pats play Cinci this week... Actually I think the Pats really may be innocent in this as headsets are now used for sending plays, not sideline signals. I just don't see where the Pats would have gained much. Regardless they are still in violation of league rules as the NFL and Cinci should have been informed of the taping. I suspect that the Pats will get a 'slap on the wrist' fine.
