My cockatiel, Terabit, is fluffing up and preening in my window.

To me he just looks awesome with his tail all spread out. Hello pretty bird... ;)

Now he is on the hunt and looking for something to attack! :) To me he really looks like he wants to pounce but that danged window screen is in the way... ;) He is actually starring down a robin three floors down on the lawn. No idea as to why but he does NOT like robins. :dunno: Personally I think he would tear apart a robin. A robin is not that much smaller but I don't think one could match the needle point hook bill and talons of a cockatiel. Still, a robin is a predator even if not seen that way. LOL! Trust me in that a cockatiel's talons, while small, are long for their size and can inflict damage. When I mess up with him he has drawn blood from my hand with both hooked bill and talons. :eek5:

He definitely looks in good condition Jay, why do your windows look like that, do they have some kind of mesh in the glass?

The window is open. You are seeing the screen.

Right! Good idea, keeps the flying insects out at least but allows fresh air in. :-)

Are not screens common on your side of the pond? They are quite common on this side.

And birds remain inside or outside, too. :-P

I wouldn't say they were common, you can buy different types to fix on windows and doors but it may be because we don't have quite the range of flying insects that cause serious illness like other countries so it's not something that is needed too much. :)

:rofl2: There is that Steve, but it looked as if the screening was actually in the window rather than something that was separate. ;)

I get what you were seeing now, Joan. The window was only half open so what looks like mesh in the window is actually the screen behind the glass. :)

Are the screens permanent fixtures or can you take them off?

Joan, screens are very common where I live, and my screens are removable. I take them off about twice a year and hose them down. Then while they are off, I clean the outside of the windows (I can't get to the outside when the screens are on).

That's one way of getting out of cleaning the windows BB, having the screens on. Someone comes round about once a month to clean my outside windows, we're not physically able to do them ourselves anymore.

There's only usually one problem, more often than not, it rains after he's cleaned them. :rofl2:

As I said screens are not a common thing over here.

OK, I swear that this bird is possessed! Why in the world would a bird be totally enthralled with the movie Aquaman? He was facing away with his head turned back over his shoulder just totally engrossed. If I got up and walked between him and the screen he went ballistic. :dunno: It was actually pretty funny. Seriously, he was absolutely into the movie. Normally around 8:00 he will start squawking for his cage to be covered. After 9:00 he was still silent just watching the screen.

Of course I'm sure it was probably just the motion on the screen he liked but it was actually sort of freaky how he reacted. Reality aside I think he is possessed by a water nymph.
