I know this is a little off subject, but I have an outside cat that consumes some of my time when I'm not on my computer. The cat won't come in the house, so I fixed him a bed in my garage for the cold nights.....I then leave the garage door up about 10" so he can come and go. Plus he has a couple of raccoon friends that stop by during the night to visit.

On these really cold nights (19 deg last night) I would like to use some type of heater under his bed blanket.....preferably the type that plugs into 110v but draws low amperage. They sell many different makes/models at the pet stores, and I'm not sure which is the best to purchase/use.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. :kitty:

What's the temperature inside the carage?

I only bring my outside cat when the temperature gets to be around 20. She has a bed made from a carrier wrapped in a plastic bed and a foam cushion inside. She's pretty warm like that. Your garage is probably was probably around 40 last night and doubt you need to do anything. But measure and see. Typically there's a 20 degree difference with ambient temperature. Also you probably can close the door down to 5 inches or so. The cat can crawl through that way.

And I doubt those raccoons are friendly. They are just coming by to eat the cat food.

Cats do love the added warmth of a heated pad though, whether it is absolutely necessary or not; particularly as they get older and get arthritic.

Here are the two types that I have:
https://smile.amazon.com/Kitty-Tube-SAF ... kitty+tube

https://smile.amazon.com/Manufacturing- ... 3YRM08W7BQ

The first one can go under an existing pillow in an existing cat bed, or on top; the second one has a fleece cover and a softer bed (air-filled) which they sleep right on.

Both are great.

You're right, I purchased the second one for the cat. She can be comfy all the time when it's cold then.
