I am not sure what is going on with Windows Defender in my Windows 10 64X operating system? Few people I was talking to about this and recommended to have Windows Defender on to scan any unwanted programs. I just checked to see if mine is off and it is. I need help to turn Windows Defender back on to stay on not off. Any idea about this.

As to Defender; do you have other Anti Virus installed? If so it is proper for Defender to be off as you NEVER run two anti virus programs at the same time.

If you are running Avast Defender is properly set as to being disabled.

Yes I am using Avast all the time for my anti-virus program. Someone told me that I should get Adware for $36.00 which is not freeware. I told him that why should I pay for payware program not freeware program with Avast? He said that Adware is a better antivirus program than Avast. I told him that I stick with my Avast
program.
