I inadvertently wiped out MS Starter2010 that came preinstalled on my cpu from HP. All I need to do is type a document and email it. So far I've purchased Encore Office Suite which it turns out has no email. Then I purchased Corel Word Perfect X6 Home and Student and that wont let me email my documents. It says there is no email program installed. Its driving me nuts!! I need to purchase a word processing program that has email before I waste any more money. Any advice for me? Thanks JIM

Location: The state of confusion; I just use Wyoming for mail.
You might want to take a look at Libre Open Office at
http://www.libreoffice.org/discover/libreoffice/

To use an email feature in any Office type package you WILL need to have an email client installed. It will not work with web based mail.

Well you can always copy and paste your document into web based email. But, is there some reason you don't want to purchase Office? The 365 Personal subscription is only $70/year, and you get a terabyte of online storage space with it. PRetty good deal, and it comes with Outlook, Publisher, Access, as well as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote.

There's also the Free Office web apps. You can compose a document in online Word and send it via email. Not totally sure how that works, as I've never had the need to use the free apps. Steve can probably tell us the capabilities and limitations.

I've never used the Office web apps to send a file, but my suspicion is that it would expect to use Outlook.com to send the file.

Appreciate all the responses and advice. I did download "Outlook" trying to follow Steves advice, however I still cant email a document and now Outlook has disappeared into the hinterlands and nowhere to be found. Think I should stick to my photography. Jim

How did you download Outlook?
How are you trying to email a document?
Is the document stored on your hard drive? Even if you don't use Office Web Apps, you should be able to attach a file to an outgoing message from an email program installed on your PC or a web based email like Outlook.com, Gmail, or other.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner but have been busy trying to get my network straightened out with my Internet provider. To reply to your question, I went on the net, typed in "www.outlook.com" and downloaded it from there and now cant find it.

You need to return to www.outlook.com (or mail.live.com, or www.hotmail.com -- they all lead to the same place) and sign in with your Microsoft Account. There is no download, it is a web based email service.

You can download Windows Live Mail -- part of Windows Essentials. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... essentials
Watch the installer and uncheck programs you don't want/need as it is a suite via the installer.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot later today and hope I don't screw it up. Jim

Of course, if you don't have a Microsoft Account, it is free to sign up for one.
