I think we all wish we could be like that.

I bet the insurance company that made that video also wishes they could be like that.

The video shows a really good-hearted person. It's saying that the man's actions carry their own rewards.
The World might be a better place if we could all live by the sentiments shown but who of us, rather than just being touched by the video, would actually behave like the man? Could anyone go without buying something they wanted in order to give half the money the item would have cost to a needy person or worthy cause? Perhaps not. I think most who see the video will sigh but probably carry on as normal?
I was wondering how the video promotes the insurance company? Maybe they are implying that they will provide help when needed ..but I'm not sure it would relate to the same kind of support that the man gives.

I cannot say that I act with the intensity of the person in the video yet I MUST argue against the statement that it is not something that we all can do.
It is up to each and every person, each individual, as to what one can offer to the world.
Don't you get it? The video is NOT a solution, it is just a hint about what one single individual just might do to change the world around him/her.
It is just a message saying that it is better to give than to receive.
I'm not in any way perfect yet I think that some on this site might say that I at least strive to be what this video portrays. NO, I do NOT succeed but at least I put out the effort. To say that it is beyond reach is the same as saying that the human race is doomed to self destruction.
BTW, YES, I have often put my wants as to purchases on hold to help another person. If helping another person in need is not a priority than I am not even human. No, I cannot help every person in need but I can help one at a time as I am able.

This was a lovely video - but I get very tired of this sort of thing. I guess because it implies how unusual the person is. Or maybe the video itself doesn't, but the way people react to it does. Most people on this planet are good people. With all the stuff the news media spews around one would not think so, but it is true. We all help folks every day. We just don't make videos about it. Nor do we expect kudos for it.

I wouldn't have said anything about how I think I may have helped people over the years but for the fact I got shouted at (words in capital letters are generally thought to mean that on the Internet) for a view put. I'll now go back to being myself, which I hope is a reasonably good person.

To understand the video and therefore the intentions of 'Thai Life Insurance' for the video, you have to first understand the religion that 95% of the Thai people practice*... Buddhism. As the video is presumably made for the Thai population it would make sense that the target market isn't for anyone outside of Thailand to fully appreciate, or in some cases to not understand at all. I know very little about Buddhism and won't pretend that i do, but this seems like a very simple advert targeted by a Thai firm at Thai people extolling the virtues of Karma. With that in mind, i hope you all have a lovely day *Source: http://www.tourismthailand.org/Thailand/religion

Understood, Doddie. In one religion they call it Karma, in another they say, "Do Unto Others," etc. You're looking at things that are natural law, which is why they find their way into so many religions and religious philosophies.

having given this thread some thought, I have edited (removed) my post above. It was a 'me me me' one, which is the kind of post I try to avoid. Too late not to have written it but perhaps no need to keep it there forever. Apologies.

Shoot, I saw from first viewing the video that it involved Karma. Just so happens that I believe in Karma regardless of what name it is given. All is cool, no worries.

Sheesh, if I had known what kind of discussion my original post was going to generate I would have never posted it. I do not care diddly squat about religion, karma, companies, WHATEVER. I just thought that the freaking thing was beautiful. Is life getting too complicated or what?

I think the video is beautiful and trying to promote discussion about it was a mistake. Best to have stayed quiet, gone along with the flow and maintained the bonhomie. Being an old 'forumer', I should have known better.
