I've been using IE11 for some time now, and lately certain websites will "freeze" . Say for instance, "Amazon". If I'm scrolling, all of a sudden it freezes and I have to get out of it, and sometimes I cant log in again for a while. However, if I go on the site using "firefox" (which I don't like) I have no problems whatsoever. Im running Windows 7 Prof 64bit and IE11. It would appear to me, that all of a sudden Internet Explorer has become a problem and I need some advice. As far as reseting IE its not an option as Im afraid I'll screw everything up. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, all relevant updates are installed. Thanks. Jim

Hi Jim sorry I can't help but it happens to me sometimes I'm running Windows 8.1. Sometimes just waiting a few seconds it starts working again but other times you'll get the message that it has run into a problem and needs to close. I'm sure one of the experts will be able to give you a better answer so just hang in there for now.

As a first step go to Internet Options then Advanced. The first option is to use software rendering. Change this option from whatever it is to the opposite. If checked uncheck. If unchecked, check. Apply and OK your way out. You will likely have to restart IE11.
See what happens and go from there.

Do a few things. First, dump your temporary internet files. Then to go Internet Options, Manage Add-ons, and disable any add-on that isn't Microsoft. Or you could disable them all and add them back in one at a time, if your problem resolved. Lastly, do a malwarebytes scan, making sure you are up to date before scanning.

I followed your suggestion but still have the problem. I might try to revert back to IE10 and see what happens even tho IE11 had been working. Cant hurt.

Unfortunately a reset would be the next step, but I'm not even sure it would handle the issue and I do understand how horrible doing a reset can be. I was having issues with IE11 myself. Then I did the Windows 10 Preview. After a little while, when I realized I was going to get the upgrade invite if I was already in Windows 10, I uninstalled it and went back to Windows 8.1. Now I don't seem to be having those issues anymore! Not sure if that's what did it, or if there were updates, or if it just fixed itself. Sorry I can't be more helpful - but at least I can sympathize.
