Crazy thing-- Since I got windows 10, the printer refuses to print wirelessly from my computer (that sits next to it). Everything goes as it should as far as the printing menu, but it prints blank pages. Yet, I have no trouble printing from my 2 chrome books or my 2 Android tablets. I've double and triple checked everything I can think of, but no luck. Don't know if its the printer or the cpu. Any thoughts from anyone would be appreciated. Jim

Have you installed a driver for it? Checked their website for a new driver?

Patty: Yes I have the newest software and driver. As a matter of fact I have done the following:
Uninstalled the printer-- Used the disc to reinstall-- Still a blank print out. Then I went on one of the sites from your listing and it took me thru the whole download again. When I finished and went to print-you guessed it- blank print. What I've decided to do tomorrow is to hook up the printer via usb and see what happens If I still get the same result I'll have to bite the bullet and call hp in India. UGH!! Jim

It has been a lot of years since I've used an HP printer but there should be the option to print a test page at the end of the install process. If that option is there does it successfully print the test page?

Also, the downloaded install is probably a single .exe file. You may want to do a right click on that install file and select to run as an admin.

Try looking at HP support. Obviously the printer works as is indicated by other systems. It may be that it is not compatible with Windows 10. Did you do the compatibility checks before installing Windows 10?

Jay: Yes it does print out the test print at the end. I did check the compatibility before I started. I never had so many problems setting up a computer. I swear, I should have purchased a new computer with windows 7. Thanks for your expertise Jay. Jim

Then the next question would be to ask for a list of applications that you have attempted to print from and to ask for any possible dialog or error messages associated which each.

Also, did you reboot the computer after the install? Did the computer come with a security suite ?

Jay: tried to print a page from, Amazon, Computer Haven, hp, etc. and there were no notices just printed a blank page.
Patty: I rebooted the computer each time and I uninstalled Mcafee and downloaded my Norton
which still has a year to go. Jim

I think that this time I'll leave Norton to Patty but will bet dollars to donuts that she advises to lose it.

OK, it seems that everything that you have attempted to print has been through your browser. Since it prints a test page after the install I would suspect that it is an issue or setting in the browser. Are you using IE, Edge or another browser? If using Edge I would suggest that you try IE. In fact regardless of the browser in use try another.

As a test I would try printing from another application such as Word or even Wordpad or Notepad.

Ok, could be Norton, could be an HP browser plugin for printing. If you're in Edge, definitely try IE, as Edge doesn't support plugins. If you're in IE already, check your add-ons. May need to enable an HP plugin, or may need to disable it. May need to disable Norton or other toolbars and plugins. Microsoft always gets the blame, Jim, but is usually not the culprit. However in the case of Windows 10, we don't have a long enough experiential track to say yet.

Patty: I finally got the darn thing working. As a last resort I dumped the last batch of windows 10 updates. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and its software (3 times). I still don't know what cured it and I don't care as long as its working. Really do appreciate all the help from you and Jay. Now I'll reinstall the updates one by one and maybe I'll find the culprit. If I find it I'll post the results. Jim

Well!! I'm back to square 1 with this printing problem the same as my 1st post. However, I find that if I restart my computer the printer will print out the page I want, but then if I want to print another, I have to restart the computer again and then I can print out another page. Any thoughts? Jim

Are you having other intermittent Wi-Fi problems besides just the printer? Have you gotten the Threshold 2 release yet? You would know it, it goes through Windows setup.

Post subject:  Re: HP Envy 7640 Printer

Patty: No other wifi problems other than the printer printing from the desktop. Have no idea what "threshold" is. Jim

Post subject:  Re: HP Envy 7640 Printer

In your Cortana search box, type winver and hit enter. Threshold 2 is Version 1511. What does yours say? The reason I ask, is that if you don't have it yet, it might solve your issues when you get it. It comes through Windows update.

Post subject:  Re: HP Envy 7640 Printer

Really can't tell if I have it. When I type winver into Cortana and then click on it, a box comes up and when I click ok it goes away and that's it. One thing I forgot to mention is if I connect the printer Ethernet it will print every time but not wireless unless I do a restart. I'm kind of leaning towards a problem with the printer but don't want to junk a 3 month old printer unless I'm 100% sure. Jim

Post subject:  Re: HP Envy 7640 Printer

You shouldn't have to click on the box that comes up, just read what it says. Second line, right below Microsoft Windows. I need to know your version number, Jim.

Just a thought...

Have you reset your router?

Post subject:  Re: HP Envy 7640 Printer

Jay: Just rebooted the router for the 5th time. No change. Jim

OK, just wanted to be sure that option was covered.

Just to intrude on the thread once more... ;) I assume that when you installed the printer software/drivers you chose wireless, not USB.
