I ran Computer Management>Disk Management to see the data on all my disk drives. Although all the drives are shown, when looking down the left column I noticed that the number Disk 7 was missing. In other words:
o
o
o
Disk 5 - Removable (Flash Drive)
Disk 6 - Basic (External Drive)
Disk 8 - Basic (External Drive)
o
o
o

So Disk 7 was missing in the listing. I've never experienced that before and was wondering what it meant and whether it indicated a problem.

Any suggestion/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance........

EDIT: Problem solved - I rebooted and number sequence was corrected. I guess I'll never learn that a reboot solves so many problems.

LOL! It isn't that you forget, you just remember late.

If you really want to reset things you don't just do a restart but rather a complete shutdown, disconnect power and hit the start button.

Realistically it does not always take a shutdown as indicated by your issue a restart often does the trick. In many cases there is an even quicker method; just log off and back on. I had this scenario just last evening. I was burning some backup CDs and my Blu-ray burner disappeared. I just logged off and on and the optical drive was back.
