 Post subject: What is ReadyBoost?

I am new with Windows 7 and have been with Windows XP or XP Professional for a good period of time. I just noticed that there is a program if you want to turn ReadyBoost on after insert the USB stick or SD card into the computer. Will you be able to explain more about this program?

Thank you,

John

It lets you use the drive as added memory to improve machine performance if you are low on memory. I've never tried it as I have plenty of memory. This is memory (RAM), I'm speaking of, not storage space.

Thanks Patty for a good explanation about this. But it's funny because a lot of new computers with Windows 7 or 8 have the minimum of 4 to 6 GB memory rams. I don't see why it's necessary to have ReadyBoost for new computers.

Thanks again,

John

Patty, do you really think that it helps gamers? I've never used it but never considered the gamer aspect. I may be way off base but I would think that it would hamper a gamer as it would tend to be much slower than the internal memory. I always thought that it was more affective for media applications such as giving a video editing program more work space which would not be hampered by the slower transfer rate via USB.

I really don't know but am curious. :)
